Hi all! Very interested in the Edision Mio, will probably order one tonight. This will be my first Linux based set top box so I'm completely new to this, the previous posts in this thread were pretty confusing for someone like me! Can someone point me in the direction of some beginner guides that would help me set it up when I get it please? Thanks.
Ensure you complete the first setup wizard correctly. Scanning options can be found in Menu > Setup > Tuner Config. I'd advise answer no to scanning in the first setup wizard. Then scan what you need depending on your setup.
If you have a fixed dish see video guides in link below for Autobouquetsmaker guide or do a manual single satellite scan if your dish is aligned to a satellite not support by Autobouquetsmaker. If you have a motorised dish you can find ready made channel lists in Menu > Plugins > Press Green > Settings. All depends what setup you have.
You also have Blind scan options, again all depends on your setup.
Many useful guides and info here: http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php/guides-and-tutorials/
If you get stuck we have a support ticket system: https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/support/
Or start a thread on this Forum, lot of friendly helpful members here that will help you out :)
Thank you for your order.

europe have dvbc 256 QAM alsoour H9 series is okay with 256QAM, some transponders are 64qam and others 256qam both works
We've asked the question for you, but for your benefit here are their contact details: https://zgemma.org/contact-us.html
OpenVix Image: Guide how to move image to Micro SD card and
boot from Micro SD card for larger Flash Size.
This is particularly useful in the Zgemma H9 series (H9S, H9T, H9.2S & H9.2H) due to the 256MB flash, moving image from NAND flash to Micro SD card will allow the installation of both Kodi and QT Stalker and many other plugins and give you a much larger flash size.
8GB Class 10 Micro SD card recommended.
This guide is written for OpenViX, SD card booting was implemented in OpenViX release build 5.2.029, all credits go to Twol from OpenViX Team adding this feature.
For the purpose of this guide we have used a 8GB Class 10 Micro SD Card and Zgemma H9 series receiver newly flashed with OpenViX 5.2.029, basic setup with no extra plugins.
Zgemma H9S, H9T, H9.2S and H9.2H can be purchased in the UK with 2 year warranty from our online store HERE from only £69, optional 8GB Class 10 SD card only £3.95 to use with this guide.

Spec wise the receiver is very similar to the Octagon 8008 with exception to the internal HDD bracket. The lack of Gigabit LAN and USB 3.0 ports on this box remain major drawbacks. I've been notified by the company that the boxes will be available on March.
Yes, as Gorski and I mention earlier they do have some in common but Octagon 8008 has USB3.0 and 1000mbit Ethernet. About 16 different providers of images for Octagon 8008, but no OpenPli. When it comes to pricing I think Zgemma H9 COMBO and TWIN versions will be more expensive than 109£ and these boxes were released last spring according to Zgemma. We will see if the WOS will have them next month. :)
We've been in discussions with Zgemma, realistically stock of both models won't arrive into the UK until approx end of March. We will be stocking them. Hope to have samples of the H9 Combo in approx 1-2 weeks and H9 Twin approx 3-4 weeks. Prices TBC.
You are entitled to your opinion, it is an open forum, i happen to agree with some of what you are saying, like gigablue being rubbish. Some of what you are saying is also just plain wrong, but then i also have my own opinions.....
But this thread was about iptv being any good on a VU Zero and how much that box costs, the thread has gone way off topic.
Feel free to open your own thread if you want.
Skopkie never called Gigablue rubbish. He rated Gigablue. Gigablue are not a rubbish receiver, if they where we would not be selling them. Just because you had a poor experience due to from what I remember first a driver issue which was fixed in a matter of days then a frequency change / signal issue does not make Gigablue rubbish.
VU+ have had certain ongoing driver issues, does not make them rubbish either! If you purchased a VU+ Ultimo 4K and had the same issue would VU+ have been called rubbish? Issues like you had can happen with any brand including le creme de la creme.
We see all sorts of issues with all brands of receivers, all makes and models have some kind of issue as do the likes of any other Electrical devices on the market or many other products on the market even cars. The thing is here we are enthusiasts that we like to tinker, tweak, improve our boxes and we talk about them on forums. If you bought a coffee machine and it didn't work as expected it would be returned to the retailer or a bad review left somewhere, that would be the end of it cos we don't discuss coffee machines (on this forum anyway, hope I don't offend any coffee machine enthusiasts :eye-tongue:). Hope it's understood what I'm trying to say.
Many, many times customers have contacted us to discuss a purchase and mentioned what they read on forum and that they perceived a certain brand as poor quality or rubbish and then gone on to buy those products and been over the moon with their purchases. What one person is not happy with, another is. A lot of the time comes down to requirements and budget.
Anyway this thread has gone off topic too much now.
Happy Friday everyone ![]()
i have contacted edision and explained the problem with advert and usable storage and the ugly remote and some other stuff
but you should explain here in the forum for people who just buy stuff consumers not geeks and i still think its lying if you dont say its not usable and again people are reading here in the forum and i think they deserve the all story with in depth info and review and here is where they look. You say "Many brands do this as a feature" thats why we have this site not to defend brands but to criticize and then they might do something better innovative wich only Vu+ is.
We do not have to explain anything. You are intent on bashing certain brands, that is clearly visible from your posts. You seem to have some motive to bash brands for some reason which is not professional as a re-seller.
Edision are not lying in their spec, the receiver does have 8GB flash. Image builders have chosen to give this device multi-boot features and the remote is very good quality, just does not please you aesthetically, that's your problem. Image builders can change the GIT to use all the flash, why don't complain to OE-Alliance, OpenPLi?
Non geeks would not use up the 2GB flash allocated to whatever boot partition they're using anyway unless they fill it loads of plugins, then would they not be geek's?
Have a good evening :)
I now how Enigma 2 receivers work but to advert 8gb and to get 2gb for use Why ? Why multiboot and why not put that info on the website or on the paper i undestand you its the formating of the partitions but explain that to customers who read the box specs and dont get the space for use they dont care if you and me know linux or enigma 2 they dont know what boot is i can tell them about mulitboot nobody care they see the specs they buy.and multiboot can be easy done with usb stick right? So is it so hard to write on the package 2 gb usable ? Can i remove the multiboot and then use all the space? Can i format the flash and get more usable space on hdd ?
Many brands do this as a feature. Not only Edision. You can ask the questions to Edision, you're a reseller.
i said correct me if i am wrong
Post 5 you accused Edision of lying about the specs ;)
One more thing: you can have 4 images natively in H7 because it has 4 partitions
Presumably this splits the memory between the four, so like 1gb per image. If you only ever have one image will it make full use of all the available memory, or only ever use a quarter of it?
Yes splits into for. Each image has its usuable amount. If you use one image only I'd suggest that you each slot for different functions. For instance Slot 1 could have all your Kodi setup, Slot 2 Stalker, Slot 3 basic FTA...... Only an example cos each slot could have both kodi and stalker plugins.
@ Gorski, in OpenViX moving image to SD card is embedded into OpenViX for H9. No need for scripts.
User can choose to boot boot from Nand or SD card. Will be in next release.
ITS Never the case with vu+ gigablue and octagon and this is not the only receiver people are not looking close what tuner or wich type flash how much flash and so on .With Dream BOX and VU+ is :You GET what you paid for all SPECS are 100% correct but correct me if i am wrong
Care to explain about the Gigablue? You've stated yourself they give correct specs :) They do the same with partitions for multiboot:

If you have any idea about what you're posting as an alleged reseller you'd be able to explain some things about the output above and why they're different to the OS Mio 4K output.

Today i got my edision mio 4k after reading here in the forum Edision OS mio 4K UHD
how its will be with 2 gb ddr4 and 8gb flash and its so better than all hisilcon SOC like dinobot u5mini and otagon but why then my have ONLY
2 GB flash? ? And how can one test ddr in e2 ? Is there some program like aida 64 or cpuz on android or just blind trust even the package box say it have 8 GB wait i will make fotos here..f444b1f.jpgc52cc393f50152a6fabbf.jpgad70bb398b594eef9b80ee.jpg
- Somebody is lying and its not me
Think you need to go on a training course to learn how Enigma 2 receivers work! I don't honestly think you have a clue about what your posting. You call yourself a re-seller! :eye roll: Feel sorry for your customers if you give them false information like this!
Answered here: Edision OS mio 4K UHD
Indeed!
At the moment, I would say, the best developers are around ZgemmaH7/AX51/Mutant51... The usual suspects in Germany etc. are no longer at the cutting edge...
What's your view?
As a retailer of many brands we have to remain impartial, but yes Zgemma has very good driver support, we've only worked with their new generation 4K receivers though. Also Edision has very good driver support, but often the new OS Nino Pro and OS Mio 4K get overlooked. These have the best blind scanning capabilities on the market right now.
Display MoreDisplay MoreDisplay MoreH7 and H9 both fast boxes.
New feature coming for the H9 series in OpenViX soon allowing image to boot from Micro SD card instead of nand. Add a £3.00 8GB Class 10 SD card and you'll have 8GB eMMC flash. Should be in next OpenViX release, credits go to Twol from OpenViX team.
Thanks for the fantastic information!
Will the OpenViX team integrate the flash expander in their image? If so, what benefits will there be compared to manually install the flash expander and then choosing the microSD?
If I buy from you will there be an EU plug too?
You don’t have any opinion on what box that boots faster, any guess?
The new features is not flash expander, it actually moves the nand image root to Micro SD card. You can then switch boot from NAND to SD Card via the GUI. I'm running one now with 8GB Class 10 SD Card. Great feature.
Hello again!
Do you find the box slower when running 8GB Class 10 SD Card?
No, actually performs better as it has more free flash to use. I've been testing with a 8GB Class 10 Micro SD card. New feature will be in next release of OpenViX.
Please explain this:

You can't know much about E2 boxes if your asking a question like that. You posted that your a re-seller, perhaps you should get to know your products a bit better :) The same would apply to VU+ that you've been pushing on this forum.

You can see from above the box has 2GB RAM, some of the RAM is reserved for the system.
The flash is showing as 1.8G because it is split into partitions to allow multi-boot.
As you should see now though, that compared to the VU+ Zero 4K the Edision OS Mio 4K is much, much better spec and value for money.
No other 4K box has the scanning capabilities of the OS Mio 4K.
I'd disagree, all brands have their issues as do all electronic devices.
