I expect it can but the last time I tried to set it up I couldn't get it working. I think there might be issues with trying to share a massive database from the duo. I had ~650gb of music so that could have been my problem. Was also using wireless so just put it on hold till I can at least rely on the network connection.

Have you had any luck with this?

    Hi all.
Just wondering if people can advise me on how to reliably browse media stored on my duo from windows. It occasionally shows up on my network in my computer but it's always temperamental.
Have the issue of it being intermittent whether using vix or bh.
Am currently using bh 1.7.8 and a windows 8 laptop. I couldn't detect it until I played a stored avi via the web interface, after that it showed up under the network tab in windows explorer.
Can anyone tell me how to find the hd of the duo reliably from other devices?
    Cheers.

I always get that dvb message when using the opentv providers for epg. Your box is setup to tune to the sat channel containing epg info every night or once a week so that it can download and maintain the 7 day epg. Not 100% sure how to get the box to switch off after download, maybe you'll see the setting when you check out the epg settings.

I made these for a 9000 Combo. Using with a s*y dish in Ireland, upload this list, change motor settings to off, do a search on the terrestrial. You can add the terrestrial channels to the free / entertainment to complete the setup. Where possible HD channels are used though SD variations are left in further down the lists.
It's a Handy list if you use the box for both freesat/saorview and cs.
The new MacSatellite Manager Channel Editor is a great piece of kit so you can easily maintain your own list. Compass has posted it in the tools section. I'll upload the latest version now too.

To be honest the issue is pretty much resolved. The problem wasn't my mates. It was the kids flicking around channels and choosing a channel that didn't clear like MUTV / LFC / Pick tv (And one channel 4 for some reason) etc. Then when they saw scrambled channel and a black screen they just get up and left the channel on.
So for me it was a tiny issue because of the scale of my shares. I don't have a nice motorised dish and left my box alone for a long time. But tis an interesting hobby and it's nice to mess around with things.
I'd also like to contribute something too, and an idiot proof channel list for sly uk, current ecm whitelist for uk etc . Only worthwhile if I find an easy method than I can run from a script as if it's tedious I'm sure something will crop up in a few weeks/month and I'll leave it die. Also my Dad has a Spiderbox, one mate an openbox s9, one an s10 and another a vu duo like myself.
Anyways we're getting off topic so will leave it there.

It could be something as trivial as storage location for epg.dat file. Or as you're in spain the signal on the channel used by opentv over the air download is poor. Beauty of crossepg is it caters for internet download via rytec or over the air download.

As an aside, I think bh image is onto 1.7.5 or 1.7.6 so might be worth updating. !.7.3 has the tuner server addon which is nice, I've had issues with BH and my setup so am on ViX. Simple to flash and get setup if you download tspanel from plugins section. Flash box, ftp tspanel, install and just get your settings/picons/cams from linuxsat server. Handy to have backed up your softcam settings so you can ftp them over.

I've set a few friends up with boxes sharing my sly card and as my internet connection isn't great and using vu as server, nok's slow things down for us all. The problem was my friends family members. I sent out a group email to my friends with general usage hints but not sure if any of them read it. The only 100% way of avoiding the nok was by editting out some problem channels from their channel lists which was a pain as there is openbox and vu+. I love just downloading latest catseye and ideally I'd prefer to have a general channel list and have ecm controlled by cccam / oscam.
    The question.
Is there a way of specifying on the client side what channels can be request from a particular line?
I was hoping to find an online tv guide from sly that would give you a current channel list based on your subscription settings. Eg; Full Sly World HD - Wouldn't display entries for MUTV Primetime sports etc.
My setup is very simple as it's only sly sharing between friends but if there was a source available anywhere listing current offerings based on your subscription then this could be downloaded once a week, cross referenced with cccam channel list file for ssid's and stuck into server via a script.

There are two options for card sharing. The only one supported on this forum is shares amongst other users. Say you buy a *** uk card and share with a peer and they share a n*** sports subscription (greek) in return. A standard *** minidish won't pick up much more than *** uk though. In theory you could get *** sports and hope to find a peer willing to movies in return.
There are other options but not supported on this forum.

I agree with S1m0nw, Out of god knows how many usb sticks I have, only one will work for flashing from front usb port, most of the others work fine when plugged into back ports for epg/picons etc.
A top brand stick may not work and the cheapest knock off work...
Also make sure not to flick the power on and off fast, allow plenty of seconds.

Eh, as it was a noobie asking it might be worth checking whether this is the combo version (Red sticker came on the front of mine and look for terrestrial search option after to browsing to installation tab on the menu). Combo will do freeview / saorview hd as far as I know. I gave my dad a 9000 combo for saorview (via ant) and fta (via sat), and when the internet works, full s*y ;)
Op should look at the neighbours' satellite and see if there is less than four cables going into any lnbs, if they are renting students then they mightn't mind you running a cable.

Attached is BillyBits latest Spiderbox HD channel list for the 12th May 2012.

It has all the popular satellites from 68.5E to 61W.
The "FREESAT UK" FAV is very family friendly with sections for "FILMS" & "KIDS", "NEWS", "MUSIC", "INTERESTS" & "SHOPPING" for those who's families use the Spiderbox
Also there are separate satellites for feed, temporary and work in progress channels - Use these satellites for any experimenting you want to do before adding to your main satellites.

All Satellites, Transponders and Channels are in chronological order except for 28.2E.
28.2E has all its channels in genre blocks.
You can easily move the blocks into the order that you prefer in the Channel Editor.

All "FAV"s are populated with clearing channels including Ethernet, UCAS, Patched Via3 and past opening channels in case they return.
You can easily delete those you do not want/can not receive or add any of your own channels.

The "read me" in the archive gives information of all the extras that this channel list has and how to easily adapt the list to your needs.
Please read it as it has a lot of information on editing the list.

This is a full channel list - just remove the satellite/channels that you do not want.
    TV Channels: 8834 (+2 Radio) of a maximum 9800
    TPs: 1421 of a maximum 3500
FAVs: All 8 used - FREESAT UK, SPORTS, FILMS, KIDS/MUSIC, NEWS/FACTUAL, GENERAL, ENGLISH PL, ADULT,

The Channel List is for either USALS or DiSEqC setups - I use this list for both without any issues.
I have included a "How To" in the archive with details of how to get the best out of your system with the combined use of USALS/DiSEqC.

If using USALS make sure you check/input your Latitude & Longitude after loading.
If using DiSEqC switch to "Motor (DiSEqC 1.2)" in Motor Setup - Motor Type and if using one of my lists for the first time you will need to manually locate each satellite and then store in a unique position.
The List has Satellites from 68.5E DiSEqC "SAT Position (POS=40)" through to 61W DiSEqC "SAT Position (POS=37)"
Any future channel lists of mine will have the same SAT Position numbers so DiSEqC users will not need to locate and store each sat position again.

The main updates from the last list are:
All Satellite/TP/Channel changes since my last list dated 23/3/12 have been updated.
Lots of TPs have been modified to accommodate BISS channels with their BISS keys added.
I've included an Excel spreadheet with BISS channel information if you want to add to the satellites that I can not receive.
A number of channels have been renamed to be meaningful if you rescan the satellite then the names will revert back to their originals.

The "ENGLISH PL" FAV contains any channels that show Premier League.
Most will never open with the standard Spiderbox but you may have other means to.

I do not have access to the "Ethernet" channels as my Spiderbox is well over 12 months old.
The FAVs contain these channels but are unchecked by myself.

    Happy Zapping
