From what I've read somewhere in the Forum, it's best to setup tuner B first... so in case you want to loopthrough, you have to do it to A, as this is the only way to make it work... don't know if it's true or not... haven't tried it personally... but I have first set tuner B as my "default" just in case I need to use this loopthrough option at a later point...

Ok, thanks.
I currently have input B to Astra 28, as advanced and input A as "same as B"... what's does this "same as B" format means then? -
Hi
I have 2 cables from the LNB to both inputs of the box.
I tried different configurations, and I read in the forum to have input B as the 'default', and have A as "same as B" (or something like that).
I also tried to have B at Astra 28, and A at Astra 28... if you wonder why, that is the way to be able to have the PIP working...
Anyway...
Now I'm faced with the following: I have all channels as duplicates... i.e. I have Travel channel 2 times in my list... one of them works... and the other does not work... I'm getting a "FAIL" message.
Have I understood something wrong? What should input A be as?
Thanks -
I have a somewhat similar problem...
When box is in standby mode (not deep... just clicking the off button once, where you can see the time on it), and then I 'turn' it on, there is no sound...
I have to either to do Restart, or Restart the software...
Why is that happening??? -

don't have a backup... when I bought the receiver I asked to install ViX Team software so I don't have to do it since it would be my first linux receiver and I knew nothing about it...
Should I make a backup right away?
-
Yes, it seems that's the problem... used another USB stick FAT32 with avi, mkv, etc, and while in the list of recorded programs I pressed MENU... then I got the option to MOUNT... and it was found... I MOUNTed it, it then asked to reboot, clicked on yes, and once back on I had to change the location (yellow button) and found the files in the USB to playback.
Now problem is the subtitles do not appear... subs are SRT file... any proposals on this one? Do I have to change the "encoding" of the subs somehow (they are not english)...
Thanks
PS: software is ViX 3.0.678

Ok, all set, satellite, internal hdd, recording + playback...
I have a USB stick 16Gb with some avi, mkv, mp4 file in it, and want to watch them, but cannot find it on the receiver...
What do I have to do to watch them? (Tried the upper back usb pot, and the front one, but nothing...)
Thanks
PS: just had a thought and checked it out... USB stick is NTFS... could that be the problem?

Perfect !
Thanks!

Ok great, thanks. Will do it soon (as soon as I get a LAN cable :-)
Got the internal hdd all working... recording... playback... all ok.
Can't get my USB stick having movies in it (avi, mkv, mp4) to work... can't find anything in the SETUP- HARD DRIVE.
When I plugged in, in one of the back USB ports I could see it in the SETUP, but didn't want to initialize - I was getting a message that I will lose all my stuff.
Then I put it in the front USB, and it does not appear in the SETUP at all...
How can I watch some movies I have in it already?
-
Installed HDD inside, all worked good... formatted in PC (Windows Vista) as ExFAT, installed, turned on, went to Hard Drive, initialized, recorded (as normal... still don't know what the rest means and where it should be).
Still don't know the format of recording...Also input in back USBs a stick with avi, mkv, etc, movies, but I cannot find it in the MENU to playback... what should I do in order to watch my movies from the USB stick?
Thanks

And as for USB stick for recording:
(1) Can it be inserted to any of the 3 inputs?
(2) When I tried to put a "Timer" to record smg yesterday (without any drive in - just wanted to check how it works) it gave me 3 options:
(a) Descramble & record ECM
(b) Don't descramble & record ECM
(c) NormalWhich one to choose? and what's ECM?
And what format does it record to? If it records on the known (to me) formats like avi, mpg, mp4, etc, then maybe I should not install the HDD in the receiver but in a USD input... that way I will be able to take plug it off any time and watch the recorded program to a PC/laptop?
Thanks

Ok, great. "Simple" stand-by where I see the date/hour, or the "Deep" stand-by where nothing appears on its screen?
PS: by "buddy" I take it you mean the wall power plug, right?

Probably the most clear cut reply I've gotten to a question of mine, up to now!
THANKS!!! -
Vu+ solo 2 with ViX software... I want to connect a 2.5" hdd inside. My questions are:
(1) Do I have to format the hdd in my PC first, or not?
(2) If I do have to format it, what do I use, FAT32 or NTFS?
(3) Can it be a SDD drive?
(4) What's the Min and Max capacity I can install? (i.e. 40 Gb to 2 Tb)
Thanks
-
Ok, no need to have the LNB connected; great. Does it have to be in the power-wall plug? and if so, do I then have to turn the receiver on or not?
-
Ok about connecting to Dreamset/PC etc... but while watching a channel, how to you add it to your favorite's list? What's the way to do it using your remote?
-
if its on the same network all you need is ip address of receiver buddy
Type IP Address into Host
Type Username is Username
Type password in password!User and Pass will be root and dreambox by default, or if you have used a backup image it is normally noted at the bottom!
No port required
So I have to connect the box to the router in order to find the ip address of the box... as far as I know the box does not have wireless built-in... have to buy usb one, right?
So, when I connect the box to the router via a Cat 5 or 6 cable, does the box have to be connected to the LNB? Because my PC is in a different room than the box - Hope not :-(And let's say, when connected, then CHAOS? haha... I will see a bunch of directories with stuff in them I guess? Like the C drive of a PC? Any guide somewhere to say what is found in each directory?
Thanks

Hi guys
I have been trying to find a solution to that, and after 2 nights I still can't!!!
In order to add a channel which I'm watching to one of my "bouquets", what I do now is the following:
Press "tv" button all the way to the lower left of the remote, then MENU, then I go to LAST SCANNED bouquet, then I have to go through all channels to find where in this list is the channel I'm watching, and then once found I press MENU again to get the new window where 'add to a bouquet' is an option!!! Seems like hell to do all that every time I want to add a channel :surrender:Is there another simple way to add a channel I'm already watching to one of my bouquets???
I also noticed that even though some channels from the LAST SCANNED bouquet are already saved in one of my 'favorite bouquets', there is nothing next to them to tell me that the channel has already been saved (i.e. some icon) and to which of my bouquets.... so I have ended up with the same channels been saved in 2 different of my bouquets and then I have to delete from one of the bouquets... is there a way to see in the list of LAST SCANNED channels which channel is saved to which bouquet already?
Thanks!

Thanks mckee!
I had seen the Dreamset software in the forum, but I thought it was only for Dreambox brand receivers..
As for Filezilla, I use this to ftp to domains and upload/download files... didn't think I could use that for the VU!!! Glad to hear that... the only thing is, how do you connect to your receiver via your PC with Filezilla? Do I have to connect the receiver to my PC using some cable? And if so, what kind of cable? Can be done wirelessly too?
Thanks -
Hello everyone
I bought a Vu+ solo 2, and set it up yesterday. Being my first Linux receiver, it took me a while to set up everything (about 30 minutes).
It has a ViX Team software in it (came pre-loaded).
Do to any changes to it (satellite/channel lists) do I have to connect it somehow to my PC, using some software (which one?) - as that what I had to do with my old receiver, a Manhattan Plaza xt-cm (non-linux).Any proposals for any other things I should do with it, to start with?
Thanks everyone.
PS; Then I will have to setup the IPTV... somehow...
