For longitude, you should use 1.xxx ( not - ) and West, but I guess you figured it out. You can also look at the dish pointer link under "Useful links" above to check your coordinates...

Yes, assuming your satellite dish and motor are installed correctly. If you are viewing 28.2 channels with it set to USALS, then it is probably ok since it will try to move the motor to the correct position the first time you try to tune a channel (or scan...)

With USALS, the motor does not really need to know where it is, it only needs to know where it is going. (Your lat/long is enough for enigma2 to tell it where to go...)

To scan any sat, go to menu->setup->service searching->manual scan-> select correct tuner motor is connect to and for "type of scan" select "single satellite" and then choose which sat to scan. It should move the motor and then scan.

I do not use wireless, but I do know that different images have either none/some/all wireless drivers enabled by default.

If you telnet to the box and type "ifconfig" does the adapter show up?

Type "lsmod" - this will list all the modules (drivers) loaded and see if there is something for your wlan adapter. (if you don't know, post output and the wlan adapter you are using.)

Also could be helpful to connect a serial cable so you can see the boot up messages to see if any wlan drivers get loaded (or at least attempted to load...)

Maybe best to start with simple simple "configuration mode" and "mode" set to positioner for first tuner. Then set second tuner to "Second cable of motorized LNB" for "configuration mode"

(Also make sure you have the correct tuner connected to the motor...)

Some linux distributions disable remote root login by default. You need to login as a normal user, then su to root.

You can check if this is true by looking at /etc/ssh/sshd_config and look for this line:

PermitRootLogin no

(Also, if root has no password, you will need to create one before you can login as root.)

Limit on simultaneous channels depends on their bit-rates and whether or not they are encrypted.

In VLC go to tools->messages and see what it says when you try to start the stream. If no info, in bottom left set verbosity to 1 (warning) or 2 (debug).

No, 28.2 is the satellite, on each sat there are multiple transponders which broadcast at different frequencies. On each transponder are multiple channels. Here is a link to lyngsat which gives a list of the channels grouped by transponder (frequency) :http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/Sky-UK.html

No need to apologize for a long post - usually the more details you give the better answer you will receive. :) But.... sorry, I am not using Spark much and I think most people here are also mostly using an enigma2 image.

From each tuner, you can stream a channel. In fact, from each tuner, you can stream all the channels from the tuned transponder...

So either your putty config got changed, or your terminal settings in ubuntu have been altered.

For putty, try creating a new session. (Although I am not sure what winscp does when launching putty???)

In the terminal you can try typing "reset" before running simplebuild.

Also type

env|grep -i term

and it should respond:

TERM=xterm

If not try:

export TERM=xterm
reset

Are you having problems with a local card, or the cccam connectio?

When you flash a new image, it automatically erases what was there before. There should be nothing from the e2 image that would affect Spark. Try another usb stick, or try a different usb port.

You may want to try CaptainBlast's HDMU backup image, it should be stable...

Maybe also post the log (again removing private info...)

I know some people have reported problems with PKT when using wlan, but I do not have any wlan adapters connected, so I cannot test. Usually it is best to make sure everything works via the built in ethernet first and then try adding the wlan adapter later....
