and my computer can detect the hard drive but when i try and access it it detects no files, even though i have a few recordings?

Did you mean to write "USB drive"??

Not sure what the output means, but...

How is the USB drive formatted? FAT32 can only handle files up to 4GB in size, so if the file is bigger than that, you need to use NTFS (or ext2/3/4...) on your USB stick in order to store large recordings...

It is sad i have to point out the obvious, but...

streamrelay=0 (disabled) means DO NOT USE STREAM RELAY method and use internal hardware decoders

streamrelay=1 (enabled) means use stream relay method and DO NOT USE internal hardware dceoders

This method is necessary when you do not have drivers which support HW decoding of DES

For the Alien2 (spark7162) you need to use my image (or use my drivers with another image) in order to watch powervu channels using DES without stream relay. Powervu channels using CSA should work on most images using the internal hardware decoder.

    1) I have used a number of Terminal programmes.

I am stuck at input select.

I cannot get the Amiko Alien 2 to the command prompt.

I have tried 'ESC to stop autoboot'

How do you get to the command prompt?

Yes, the ESC key does not work - you need to press and hold the menu key while turning on from power switch in back.

If it does not survive a reboot, maybe your nvram is bad??? After starting up to the terminal, what does "printenv" show?

I have not personally tested, but It apparently has been done : HDMU_16389_E2_spark7162_217_git_581 + HW DES Drivers

If it does not work for you, you need to post output from serial port. Sorry, I do not have time to give a detailed how-to, but the info is already posted on this site.

Oscam is not a driver. You can try the drivers in this thread : HDMU_16560_E2_spark_217_git_581 + HW DES Drivers

    (modules_spark.zip)

look in /lib/modules.... and replace existing stmdvb.ko and pti.ko with files from above zip file and reboot. (probably good idea to backup existing files in case it does not work.)

I downloaded it but it says it`s for 7111 and mine is 7162 chip. Before doing it I want to backup my image but I don`t know how to. Kindly show me how to make a backup and then I`ll try it without any fear of damaging the image because I`ve worked too much on this image and don`t want to lose all my efforts just like that.

    Tthank You for your help.

Here are for 7162 :HDMU_16389_E2_spark7162_217_git_581 + HW DES Drivers

Hi Joe. Would you also patch the audio driver regarding the audio R/L only (mono). The stereo is fine, but we still can't switch to mono,

Sorry, I was away for a few weeks and then have been busy catching up on things, so I haven't logged in here in a long time.

I am not sure what the problem is exactly??? Do you have some channel I can test with? I can switch between stereo/left/right but I am not sure it really works.

The audio.elf file included in the image ( /boot/audio.elf) is supposed to have some fixes for ac3. Attached is another audio.elf file you can try (the only other one I have...)

Can`t it be done without stream relay method

Only on dreamboxes, all other receivers need to use streamrelay.

Actually spark7111 and spark7162 have been able to open powervu channels for a long time - but until recently, only CSA encrypted channels (which are rare.) But now with my new drivers, all powervu channels can be opened (CSA + DES).

    Uploaded images are here:

spark7162: Joeuser's Taapat based image with new hardware DES drivers. (powervu...)

spark7111: Joeuser's Taapat based image with new hardware DES drivers. (powervu...)

Also in the threads there are downloads of just drivers which "may" work with other images...

That is funny, I do not remember writing in Italian. :)

Those were not commands, they were environment variables. You need those set as a minimum to get the front panel buttons to work.

From a serial terminal type: printenv

and see what is set. It should look something like:

What does the terminal show when you hold the "ok" key on boot? It should look like this:

To set some environment variable you need to use "setenv"

After setting, you need to "saveenv" to save the settings. You should do this after setting the bootargs and before you enter the boot command.

Typing "help" or just "?" at the serial command prompt will give you a list of commands you can use.

    So for enigma2,

If you cut and paste, do only 1 or 2 lines at a time otherwise some characters may get dropped...
