Extract it out first and use any compression software to compress it to .zip format.
(I use winrar and select "add to archive". On the next screen, you can choose between .zip or .rar format.) -

change this to:
httpallowed = 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255You should be able to access it from anywhere then, as long as your webif port is open.

Need a bit more info, make/model/image etc.

Not many problems only slow. (although i only have the 150 model)
Is your channel list up to date?
Have you recently scanned for channels?
Have you tried that unique line in another receiver?
Just try one emu at a time as putting your line in both may also look like a double login.
I find that cccam works better (from my setup anyway)
If it is connecting, and all your channels are up to date, the problem may be at the server end.Other than that, it may be time to contact your friend.
P.s, Youtube is only internet dependent, shouldn't require any line details to work.
-
Ok, two things:
First post should be an introduction here:
http://linuxsat-support.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2
Second one,
Did you enable autoconnect and exit out of the menus and try to select a different $ channel?
If this didn't work, you could try to restart the receiver. It should find an ip (if dchp is set on) and eventually connect to your friends server (these receivers aren't that fast and sometimes can take up to 30 seconds after rebooting to see a picture).
Are you using the same line details in another receiver?
Your friends server might not allow double logins. -

Opinions differ but I would go for a mips based receiver.
Enigma2 was designed for this type of receiver.
Obviously more memory, speed , tuners etc = more money
I suppose you have to decide exactly what you want from it, record one channel while watch another, if you want to run a card in it and use it as a server, Internal or external hdd.
Vu are good build quality.
Mut@nt are the new kid doing exciting things.
There is a lot to choose from really.
Have a look on the sponsors website and anything you don't understand, just ask. -

Ahh,
Your in bigger trouble so.
Time to contact the supplier or , if your handy with a multimeter, time to start checking the psu and/or fuses.
What exactly happened to it?
Rs232 flashing method is normally only for a curroupted firmware/channel upgrade.
Sounds like you've other issues. -
The only thing I can suggest to you then is to double check everything as thats all you should need.
The right .abs firmware for your receiver,
A null modem rs232 cable
The right erom upgrade software, (I was caught with it before) the erom upgrade software from ferguson can be model specific (just like the firmware .abs file), ie: an upgrade software for a 150 may not work with a 250 etc..
I do presume you have "ASH" error on the display. -
I have heard good things about this receiver: (well within your budget)

Or have a look here at our sponsors page and see if anything grabs your attention:

Are you using a pc with an rs232 native output or is it a usb to rs232 adaptor as these can and do cause problems?

Your vu ultimo remote can also function as a universal remote.
You could disable the hdmi-cec and programme your vu remote to control your tv on/off , source input and volume(all the essential stuff really)
Taken from the ultimo manual: (samsung code 2448)QuoteDisplay More2-10. Remote Control Unit (RCU) Set-up

Volume +/-, Mute, AV), you can control STB without having to select mode between TV and STB every
time. Compared to those universal RCU of mode selection types, the modeless universal RCU of Vu+ is
clearly a smarter choice by eliminating unneeded control functions.

DISCLAIMER
Vu+ universal remote controller (RCU) is developed with Philips Electronics. The database used in the Vu+
RCU supports more than 90% of the TV brands available on market. This means that your TV may not be
compatible with this universal RCU in some rare cases. In this case, Vu+ RCU can be used only for Vu+
set top box. -
Sounds like it is switching source to another device connected to your tv.
Could well be a hdmi-cec enabled device
Samsung call this Anynet+ (i think)
Here's an explanation of what hdmi-cec is:QuoteCEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control. Essentially HDMI-CEC-enabled gear, when connected by an HDMI cable, can be controlled through one remote without any programming or setup required. It is an optional part of the HDMI specification. Up to 10 connected devices, including the display, can be controlled via HDMI. CEC is a two-way communication system in which a device sends back an acknowledgement that it received a command, assuring that devices are in their proper state.
In Philips we market the HDMI-CEC feature under the name ‘EasyLink’. HDMI-CEC is an industry standard supported by many brands, under various proprietary names.
You could try disabling it in your image, i think it is in the plugins menu, or set it up for your vu remote to control your tv remote or vica versa.
It could also be a samsung app that someone has downloaded to their phone/tablet which lets them use it as a remote. Disconnecting your tv from the internet may solve it but you will loose your smart tv functionality if you do.
What else is connected to your tv?
