    However the uno says that it only has one tuner but supports both... How?

    The uno has only one plugable tuner slot which can accommodate a sat/dual sat or cable/terrestrial tuner.
    You cannot run both sat and cable/terrestrial from this receiver simultaneously. (so no good for you)

    I'd want to use mgcamd in assuming vix and blackhole support that

    Mgcamd can be run by both images as far as i know.

    Is buying a vu+ clone ok? Do I use the regular software or does it specifically need to be for a clone?

    We don't support vu clones here due to sponsorship arrangements.

    I saw that you can buy a hybrid tuner that the uno has, is it possible to plug that into another vu+ box?

    The hybrid tuner is only for cable and terrestrial and comes in two forms:
    1 dvb-t /c
    2 dvb-t/t2/c
    They will fit the duo2 ultimo and uno respectively.
    Dunno anything about dreamboxes im afraid.

    I found another config on the net for you to try also.
    Have no idea if they will work for you though as these were posted Sept 2012
    They were running OSCAM 1.20-unstable_svn build #7887 with v1 card. (From what i can make out , though my bulgarian isn't up to scratch:62:)

    I don't know enough about this yet to understand what ATV / HDMU etc actually means

    A Few Basics:
    Open-ATV , Open-PLI , HDMU , Egami, Open-VIX etc, are all enigma images.
    They are all linux based, but differ sightly in look , support , menus etc.
    Your alien also has another operating system onboard called spark but has less support than enigma images
    Enigma2 (E2) images have been originally written for receivers with broadcom mips processors.
    The alien amiko 2 you have runs on a different processor (SH4 chipset i think) so some images above have been modified to run with that particular processor which in turn causes stability issues.
    Some run ok with some plugins and others run ok with different plugins.
    To decide which is best for you, find out exactly which plugins you require and have a look here:
    http://linuxsat-support.com/forumdisplay.php?f=477
    to see if any one fits your requirements.
    Then it just a case of trying them out.

    You could try reviving it with the erom upgrade tool (attached) from the 102e, an rs232 null modem cable and the firmware i posted earlier if it has the "ASH" error.
    Dunno if it will work tbh but is worth a shot if it is dead already.

    You won't get multiple instances of channels on terrestrial.
    Just to add to above...
    This is because SID and ONID are the same across all the frequencies.

    Very true, never happened on my vu, only ever remember encountering it on my non linux ariva when doing a blind scan.

    OK thanks. The same freeview channels are showing under Satellites > Terrestrial Services OR Terrestrial Providers OR Terrestrial New

    Probably show up under all those alright.
    Shouldn't need to download epg data (dunno who provides it tbh)
    Try restarting the receiver and select a channel, then hit the epg button. Should come up (they do load on saorview anyway, dunno about freeview.)

    Just scan for channels on that tuner now and it should pick up your freeview channels.
    Make sure you don't allow it to clear your other tuners before scan as you may loose your satellite channels.
    When they are found, they will be put in "all channels", "dvb-t services" or "recently scanned channels" (depending on image).
    The epg content should auto update by selecting a channel then (it does on saorview anyway)

    I want to connect alien 2 open arp oscam to cccam2.1.4 as server

    You might be better off to use oscam as server.
    Cccam doesn't run on an alien 2 as far as i'm aware, i think it may be mgcamd reporting as cccam (from what i've read anyway)

    Channel list for 150 combo.
    Will not work on any other ariva model.
    Terrestrial channels set to woodcock hill (may need to rescan if getting them from different transmitter)
    Extract out zip file.
    Goto "menu/tools/upgrade by usb."
    Scroll across to select "userdb"
    Bottom file should have "backup.abs" selected.
    Press "start"
    Receiver will reboot when completed.

    Favorite lists :
    1 = FTA (including saorview terrestrial from woodcock hill)
    2 = Movies
    3 = Sports
    4 = Documentary
    5 = Kids
    6 = News
    7 = Entertainment (sly ire first, rest in no particular order)
    8 = Music

    Backup original list / line details before uploading (just in case of errors)

    First, post intro as per forum rules:
    http://linuxsat-support.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2
    Then follow post #2 on this thread (clicking on the highlighted "mips32el.ipk version / BlackHole 2.X.X Softcam Collection ").
    They should download onto your desktop/downloads folder (windows)

    If they are showing up as .php files, the fix for that is here:
    http://linuxsat-support.com/showthread.php?t=44527

    The .ipk files are then ftp'd to your receiver using filezilla/dcc to the temp folder on your receiver.
    Then, pressing the green button followed by the red button on your remote, you should see the option to "manually install ipk packages" which then installs them onto your receiver.

    There's no need to try to open them on your pc as they are designed to be opened/unpacked/installed on your receiver running blackhole.

    What I was looking for is a firmware patch that enables me to configure the "Network Local Settings" to an external server.
    Probably this Ferguson is too new for there is nothing available so far.

    It was the only one i could find posted on the net with the description of a patched firmware.
    I was/am unable to test any aspect of it as i don't own that model.
    I can't see any other versions relating to a patched one either.
    Afraid you may be out of luck for the time being as ferguson don't even have an original firmware posted on their website so far.
    From my experience, when the original firmware appears there, it isn't long before a patched one is available.
