flash this ssl84b & reboot ok
then put reciever back into flash mode
& now flash your choice of latest images

same procedure applies to your Dm800 if sim2, but with its correct 84b bootloader.

yes it works :) and all images i try using this method work. so what was the issue then? if u could explain

usually when i flash a new image i flash this before i reboot. Iv noticed in all new images i tried it shows two tuners A and B when my model is a single alps tuner. Has this any bearing on my problem? my model is the dm800SE 2.10 clone and am now scratching my head when i see two tuners when i go to tuner config both saying not connected

    Hi guys.

After such a long time using the same image. Iv decided to change as of all the new plugins available now. But iv run into a problem. No matter what image i use after setup i go to tuner config and their are no tuners connected. If i flash the old image everything works perfect.

I have 2 dm800hd boxes and they have exactly the same issue as this DM800SE. I recon iv got an odd tuner inside and the drivers are not compatible

The only image i can get to work on these boxes is: DreamboxUK_v2.1.1_SIM2_84A_DM800SE.nfi and the dm800hd version respectively

Anyone come across this? It bugs me becuase i want autobouquet and a few other plugins but if i manually install them the box green screens as i think its heavily modded, and dreamboxuk have no support any more

I went at it again this weekend. different card this time and got the same error?

So i build a new server out of parts.

And it works fine now. It was the hardware I was using

Is their drivers for the smartreader available for debian or does it need to be installed sometimes?

Said id post incase someone else is having issues

Its not dead though, it works fine just not with oscam. iv found other posts around the net even in Spanish, Italian and German all saying that 1.7 is a problem.

Is anyone running smargo with 1.7 firmware?

    tanx man

iv tried the serial:reader trick with no sucess. if yoiu read the errors im getting it looks like oscam can see the card but as soon as it tries to read it fails.

Probably due to smargo v1.7 not compatible

Anyone here running smargo 1.7 with oscam?

oh and that Transistor gate trick is only to reset the chip if it is not detected by usb:

here is the full tutorial for that trick if anyone needs it:

I just received the smargo so im going to return it and never update it again:)

Ill let you all know if it works out well and if that was the actual problem

    no that command does nothing

I am thinking its my fault.

I updated the card to v1.7

read this post if you can its in german, i translated it to english using google and they where saying that 1.7 is not compatible nor can it be downgraded?

    Code
    http://www.digital-eliteboard.com/showthread.php?174224-OSCAM-mit-S02-Karte-am-Smargo-an-der-7170-will-einfach-nicht/page2]

Got it a bit further than before but now am facing a new problem:)

Iv researched this for the last 3 or 4 hours and cant find a solution.

    Iv tried setting

    device = serial:reader "serial"

    nothing seems to work.

here is the error im getting

    2012/03/19 1:38:38 0 s waiting for local card init

The smartreader is running on 1.7 firmware if that helps anyone

i tried to run the reader on a powered usb and still get the same errors

Ten below i think this Pc is haunted. I finally got it sorted though

I will leave comments on what i done here for other people in case they suffer like symptoms
here is a rundown of the problems i had and how i fixed them.

When installing Debian i got a grub load issue
I resolved this by changing dvd drives . drive was probably faulty. if you get this error try bur the cd at a slower speed also

when i did get Debian installed, oscam was not functioning properly.
I used a different distro of Debian and it didn't obviously have all the components needed

After changing the dvd drive and getting the correct Debian installed http://tiny.cc/ns80h was not doing anything
Turned out that it was my internet even though my internet was functioning correctly, i reset my router ant it worked first time?

all i can say is the strangest errors iv ever come across

thanks everyone for all your help in solving my stupid problems.

    sorry for the annoyance

I swapped out dvd drive and didnt get the grub error and also debian after the install looks much different this time. lots of more apps and tools the admin window didnt have anything in it before

    Looking good so far

Ten only thing now though is that link tiny.cc aint working. saying:

connection to tiny.cc failed. connection timed out. Retrying

    any ideas why?

When I was installing the network version of debian it asked what server to connect to. I choose the first one on the UK list. I also let debian choose my hard drive setup and still got the grub error? does it matter what version of debian i install?

Maby change the DVD drive out and burn the media a second time at a slower speed. Did notice both on Ubuntu and debian that the network decided when it wanted to work. I would check web browser and only sometimes the internet was working even thought win 7 laptop beside me was working. Is this normal;) it would let me browse the network but couldn't bring up any web pages? New to Linux but really don't think this should happen

    tried oscam -b nothing happens?
