alian - post an intro first - and use the forum to ask for help, not to rant, because ranting gets you nowhere. You can search the internet to find anything you want to find, for example, I just searched the net and found lots and lots of happy Vu+ users. I am a happy Vu+ user, who had a similar issue and reflashed the bootloader, used up to date images and all has been fine since. If you introduce yourself and explain your problem rather than in rant form then we will be happy to help. If not, then this thread will be gone before long.

Never tried it, but this should be possible with dreamstreamoid pro (you have to pay a fee for this app - don't think it is possible with the free version) - using a VLC server - you would need the vlc server do reduce the bandwidth of the stream to something that is practical across the internet, you could access your server by using a your dynamic dns (where you would normally use the IP of your VLC server)- you would also need to open some ports on your router - I have never tried this before but I know it is possible. There is also a way to configure your VLC server computer to wake on lan so it isn't on all the time while you are away
good luck!

Yeah but this crap nstream keeps crashing
If you think it is crap - find the time to learn how to fix it. I am sure the developer(s) have found a lot of time to try to get it to work, inbetween their day jobs and other commitments.

Oh your a real scream.
Considering this was posted in the Amiko Alien 2 Support section - it does seem obvious, but I am sure toothfairy must have missed this vital bit of info somewhere - it can be done!

Anyway - this thread has served its purpose so I will close it...

External HDD would normally be mounted as HDD - so not sure why you are trying to mount it as USB - You can however set different paths on timer events by changing the location.

funnily enough these two boxes were another member's possible choices - so have a read below.

bam777bam - you haven't been banned, caz and Ten were asking for clarification. As you know we will not tolerate payservers or indeed anyone who is planning this, and we are constantly alert to the tale-tale signs. Unfortunately for those who are just setting themselves up as a server and not sharing in the sense where their peers have local cards and are sharing back, (share for a share) this activity arouses suspicion, and from your thread, you are not only doing this, but you are trying to rescrict your 'client' so he/she cannot change the way you have set up the receiver. This is what a payserver might do if he is selling receivers with 'gifts', which is payserver activity, so please appreciate that we will be suspicious, and withhold the right to question any activity which we deem suspicious.
Just to point out, any kind of cardsharing outside of your own network is illegal and although we can help to help you set up your receivers and servers, if you use that information to cardshare outside your network, we can't and won't condone it.

Does vix 3 support tspanel now
I have installed vix 3 - 204, 245, and 339 and they dont support plugins like tspanel and 1channelenigma2-plugin-extensions-tspanel_6.4_mips32el.ipk
above link works with ViX 3.0
look at the ViX plugin feeds - (menu - plugins - green button - extensions) - and you will find the 1channel plugin

1st post should be here Introductions
Don't ask for PM support - for the benefit of other users, questions and answers should be posted in the open forums.

not really enough info here - not even knowing whether your card is read in Oscam or CCcam - also if you post some configs then we might have a better idea.

We have supplied 100's of them in the past and yes we have concerns over the build quality of the receiver and also the backup support for the distributor - this is the reason we stopped supplying GigaBlue receivers and have no real regrets in doing so, we'd of course though consider them again in the future should things change.
Just a small issue I had with my GigaBlue is the HDMI output port is a little bit loose, to the point where upward or downward force on the HDMI lead can cause the output to not work, suggesting a loose connectioin somewhere - so this does suggest the build could be better. Also one or two people have complained about lack of support from the manufacturer.

no dowland link????
maybe if you stopped posting thankyou posts and use the 'Thanks' button instead, then you might see the links magically appear.:sheep:
And an intro post in the intro section would be nice too!

There are lots of options to consider when setting up your PC as a DVB receiver. MythTV is an option for linux, and if you go for Windows, then there is 7MC (which is actually quite good imo as a PVR) or there are other apps, one which I used is Mediaportal, and there are also good apps for PVR functions such as '4therecord' which can work with mediaportal to act a s a kind of series link.
Basically, you have the right idea, but the most important thing is to make sure you have a system that is as quiet as possible, and secondly, up to the job. There is much on the subject of HTPCs on the net.
I tried this a few years ago, built a custom HTPC, and eventually came to the conclusion that PCs can do the job, but dedicated receivers tend to serve better, and ironically one of the reasons is because PCs can have too many configurations, and it is hard to be satisfied!

The way Oscam seems to work is that all requests on your server that belong to the same Caid of your card will try to clear with your card, and if your card hasn't got that service, it will find another reader that will clear it. You could try defining ident as well as caid in your reader entry
I noticed you haven't defined the ident, not sure if it will make a difference to your issue but worth a try. What you could do is create a services file and define services for each card and define them on each user account, that way you can ensure that your server will only get requests for services on that CAID/Ident that your card can clear, and you can set them up for your peer reshares for other cards as well.
you might not see 100% ok by doing the above but you should be able to stop most of the NOK

If you are looking for the one with the best support then the GigaBlue is the one to go for - If you can do with just a single dvb-s/s2 tuner. The support is very good at the moment for the GigaBlue SE, with images such as ViX, OpenMips, OpenAAF, SiF team, and more. It has better Cam support, because it has a Broadcom Mips based processor, same as the Vu+ and Dreambox, wheras the Amiko Alien has a different chipset. The Amiko Alien2 is a good option if you want 2 sat tuners and a dvb-t - but there seems to be some teething issues re CrossEPG and some are having other issues. Bear in mind that these issues will probably get ironed out, and the Alien can support Oscam, which will cover most people's needs.
There are other options, such as getting a NewDVB DVB800 and a USB dvb-t tuner. The sponsor used to stock the GigaBlue 800 SE and currently stocks the NewDVB DVB800 and Amiko Alien 2 so I am sure he will have some advice on this. I Have got the GigaBlue 800 HD and for the price it isn't a bad box, and the 800 SE model does have better support than mine!

Where are the options for the samba server in vix as I don't see them in the vix menu or set up menu
I wasn't sure - but it took me a few seconds to find out for myself. Sometimes messing with things and discovering things for yourself pays off, and you learn a lot more, and much quicker than by just asking - but because I like to help...Menu button - Setup - System - Network.

the forementioned options apply - not sure what more you expect to acheive really.

Moved to its own thread. Not many people have had the triple card reader. I had this reader and I couldn't get it working with Oscam on a PC server - never tried it with Oscam on a receiver. Problem with these readers compared to a normal smargo is the tool you use to change the settings or update the firmware etc doesn't work. I found they work fine with CCcam, so if you can get away with using CCcam (would depend on your card) then you can go down this route. If you drove 300km for this then they certainly saw you coming! - I bought mine for 60 quid and sold it for £20 quid a couple of months later. I would suggest if you intend to use Oscam to read the card, then you can go for an omnikey reader - which more or less work out of the box, and you can get 6 of these for the price of one smargo triple reader.
