I have gone through lots of TVs over the last few years, especially since they have become more of a gadget rather than just a TV.

My first bit of advice is avoid LG like the plague. The price looks good, that's it. The first one I had was a 32" LCD smart tv Freeview HD, which had an odd sound interference issue, almost like radio inerference or static. I then went for a 42" LG passive 3D led Freeview HD smart tv. Smart TV functions was slightly better, access to App store, but when I was using the TV tuner as a source, the TV decided to turn off and on about 3 times in the first hour before it settled down, and then I got some what I think was vertical banding. The passive 3D is good as the glasses are cheap and require no batteries.

Now I have bought a Samsung UE40F6320 -which has a 46 inch version UE46F6320, or you could go for a very similar model with added voice control

I didn't realise that there was one for very slighty more with voice control until I got this one, but I am very happy with it all the same, two pairs of active 3D glasses, and the full UK catchup TV services, Netflix, Lovefilm etc.. Samsung is the only one who has the full lineup of catchup TV services on their smart TV sets.

below is the link to the 46" version with Voice control (review)

Have you tried to change the settings so it reboots your receiver rather than reloading settings? You can do this in Dreambox edit options/ftp.

You could also try opening up a telnet session, log in to your receiver, prior to using dreambox edit issue an 'init 4' command, and then once loaded issue an 'init 3'

You also have the option of using an FTP client and sending the files to your receiver that way, once you have saved your results in dreambox edit.

Once I sorted out the juddering on my NBOX receiver (mentioning it because it is an SH4) then to be honest I didn't notice too much difference between that and the quality I get from my other two receivers which are proper mips ones. As I mentioned before, the issue most get on these type of receivers on HD channels is juddering, which can either be fixed (albeit a dirty fix as it presents other picture issue) by setting your receiver to 1080p 25hz, or by flashing with judder fix image or possibly replacing a couple of system files. It is a an idea if there is any tweaks you can do in order to improve things, either on your TV set, or if you look at the video options to see if you can mess with some advanced video settings, I know you have probably tried this, but I myself have spent hours before I was happy with the picture results. From what I read most people get better picture results with spark than they do with E2 images on this receiver.

Thanks Guys will try but have also found that if I set video to 1080p 24 MHz refresh late judder stops

Only set it to 1080p 25hz when you are not using an image with the judder fix. The quality is pretty poor with this setting especially when you are watching high action stuff like football, saying that - it is still the best option if you haven't got a judder fix image/files installed.

The only way to remove TS panel is to reflash the image. As part of its install it overwrites system files making a proper full uninstall impossible.

Do you have any idea what files it overwrites? Maybe if we knew this then we could back these files up previous to an install so if we want to uninstall it we can revert back to the pre install state without a full reflash.

Im just pointing out that no one actually broadcasts in this format in case the OP did not know. There is no need for you to turn it onto another witch hunt.

No witch hunt, not sure why you feel that way! It may have appeared that you were suggesting not to use 1080p, and I was explaining to you why people are, incase you didn't know. I would imagine you would not have read many threads on this subject because it hasn't got anything to do with ViX or any receiver that can run it. Nothing wrong with keeping topics on the right track and factual, as you would do the same.

I hope you realise that no one actually broadcasts in 1080p ??.

If you read threads previous to this then you will see why people are setting the receiver to 1080p Nothing to do with trying to receive non-existent 1080p broadcasts, more so a fix to cure the juddering issues with SH4 receivers using E2 images.

Might be an idea comber if you PM me or another member of staff the dns address or email address of this payserver, considering we have a member of that name on this forum as well that should really be checked out and removed if he is the same person.

No I use it to pick up stations on hotbird 13e

I think the question is if this is happening on free channels or subscription channels - and if you have subscription channels are you receiving them using a Card or by other means?

yes this can be done with dvd authoring software on the PC. Log on to your receiver with FTP client such as filezilla or winscp, or you can even add your Vu+ Duo hard drive as a network drive on windows so long as you have SAMBA installed on your receiver, then just save the file you want to your PC

I think from memory stevejo had a solution to this issue but I can't for the life of me remember what he said. Hopefully he will see this and advise. I have never had this issue myself and have tried this with a few images. I am wondering if there could be something loose inside - if you have a 3.5" HDD installed, bear in mind that the position of this inside the HD2 is central with the length of the HDD from front to back of the receiver, so installing the HDD might possibly disrupt the connection to the panel during install. Might be worth opening the receiver and checking to see if any connecting parts are loose - often they can click in to place. You should not void any warranty unless you attempt repairs with a soldering iron as these units are designed for plug and play tuners and internal drives.
