I have looked around but no firmware to be found best bet is the seller but there is no recovery software either for it so how will you flash the firmware? My best advice for you would be to contact the seller and try to get box with better support like the F3, newer isn't always the best.

I do not think renaming it would work. This is how I would do it, dump the channel list (tp_prog.dbs) to my pc then use a split program to split the .dbs file into a .rom file and a .udf file the .udf file you can use in the Alieditor, after editing save then use the merge program to get the .dbs file.

***box f3 it may not be the latest but has good user support just in case things go wrong.
-
On the official openbox/***box site this model is not listed do not buy just because it is new always go for one with a lot of user support if things go wrong you will end up with a brick.

This is a old list but it gives you a start and you can modify using channel editor.

This does not work on S16. I need a .udf file format to upload to the box.
You can edit channels using Ali editor the one I have here also has a split and merge program which splits the .dbs into .udf and .rom format.
Maybe if you split AJ's file you will get the .udf file you need but not tested because I don't have a S16, backup everything if you are going to test it out.

With the he openbox s11 I have no problems using the lan tool for it, ***box F3 is well supported and that is the one I would go for the F5 although newer uses the same firmware and seems to come with a lot of hardware problems.

ok so ping is 26ms. download speed 9.26mb/s and upload speed 0.75mb/s. does this tell me anything?
Try to update your channel list first to see if that makes a difference.
Your server has a good ping so that is not the problem the next thing I would check is the cable going to the LNB, check connectors are o.k at both ends, sometimes the cable becomes loose from the f connector also make sure the cable is not frayed. The last thing I would do is if your LNB is not single output is to change the cable to another output to make sure it is not LNB. -
Even the channel list is in a weird .bin format that is not recognised by channel editor software.

At the moment I do not think you can get a ftp program that will work with the x5.

thanks for the reply.no channel in particular is at fault just general glitching.i know it could be the server but his other customers keep giving him good reviews.i just want it to not glitch as much as it does and am trying to narrow it down as im a complete novice to all this
The other thing you can do is ping the server anything below 70ms should be fine.
You have to us command mode (cmd), on your pc go to the accessories folder it should be there, when you are in the command console type ping server, server is the name of your server or ip address. -
You seem to be aligned properly maybe a slight tweak to get signal quality a little better, what channels are causing the problems?
The channels list need to be updated every so often no set time between updating it, it all depends on channels moving, going dead, new channels or any other changes the broadcaster makes. King of sat website or websites like that provide good information on what is happening. -
Only thing I would like to add to the above post is to tick the include boot loader option.
Good luck.

Could be one of two things either a fault on your cable or loose or dry joint on either the port on pc or stb.
