Surely you realise that our friend Pheonix has two boxes that he must want to get rid of. As at 1830 last night he did not seem impressed enough to keep them. "I have two fire TV boxes my self mate and they blow that piece of crap wetek rubbish rite out of the water on all points, even with it's tuners.". Just sayin'

Pheonix is trotting out the same line she used for the Alien 2 receivers it would seem.
Pheonix is still proclaiming that the Alien 2 is "a total pile of crap" and a "poorly built piece of junk".

When one tells lies for so long , one eventually believes ones lies.

    The vfd display working properly?

    Should be yes .
If not you can try the vfd display addon on the download server.

Hi Fano, i'm using your alien 1 back up without a problem m8, but this alien 2 back up will not load, it gets to the hyperion 4.5 splash image and stays there, the box sits there with load 0 and doesn't move.
Could it be that this back up of yours is set up for the triple tuners and my alien 2 has just the 2 sat tuners, very puzzling.
Flashed from spark using the enigma 2 upgrade plugin.

I dont think it being a twin tuner should make any difference to be honest .
Did you try reflashing it ?

Fano, any reports of oscam trouble?

I reloaded your backup twice now, oscam isnt working.

No complaints that I have heard of yet.

Oscam should be running ,you just need to edit the oscam.server file with your details .
Its in the /var/keys folder or can be edited via the Oscam interface .

You can check if Oscam is running by pressing the blue button and selecting emu control.

Ok guys here is a copy of a Hyperion 4.5 backup I made for the Alien 2 aka Golden Media Triplex aka Sab Triple

I've included a few mods and tweaks in this image to improve performance over the basic Hyperion 4.5 build.

Firstly it has the amixer audio boost script running so the audio levels are 60% louder than the stock Hyperion image and more like Spark and other receiver levels.
Also included is the alternative audio.elf file by Muitler to improve sound playback via an amp .
This doesnt provide DTS audio playback so I am enclosing the original audio.elf file too (it goes in /boot)

Improved tuxtext.ttf file for a better teletext font.

History Zap Selector v1.8 is included ,handy for channel browsing .(Prev/Next Button or Recall)
Use 0 to switch between 2 channels.

    Record Infobar is also included

I have also tweaked a few of the button mapping configurations and settings .

It is configured for 28 East Satellite and Saorview (Irish terrestrial tv),all picons are installed (usr/local/share/enigma2 ) as is an up to date channel list inc some Iptv links.
An upto date satellites.xml file covering 30w to 45e is also installed.

Autobouquets (Sept 29 2014 build) is installed if you'd prefer to use this to generate channel lists, its configured for the Republic of Ireland but its easy to change..

    Installed Plugins

    AutoTimer
    Autobouquets
    Automatic Volume Adjustment
    CacheFlush
    CrossEPG 0.8.1
( configured to update when the box is in standby )
CoolTVGuide v7.3 (opens on EPG,Green button also opens Single EPG)
    RTE Player
1channel (latest version;wont work in certain countries due to isp blocking)
    IPTV List Updater v1.63
    Enhanced Movie Centre
    Media Portal v6.76
    Media Player
    History Zap Browser
    Open Web Interface

    Softcam
Oscam v10000 is installed and running, you just need to edit the oscam.server file with your details
Oscam port: 8888 user: root, pass: oscam

    FTP: user:root ,pass:pkteam

I've set the default skin as PLi-HD but there are a few other skins to try inc Sly Blue HD ,if you'd prefer.
Plenty of free flash space to install other plugins .
I tried to keep an average free memory of ~15Mb in normal usage so didnt install too many superfluous plugins.

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for HDMI at 720p.

This is an extremely solid image and very quick ,I have been running it for the last 2 months .
Many thanks to the PKT team, data devil, and other plugin developers who have put in sterling work with the different code involved in this backup.
    Enjoy

    Some sample screenshots

I have a server running here so I just added the chrome update to run on that :) if you have a PC thats on all the time just do the same
    https://support.unlocator.com/…-using-a-chrome-extension

Some dns providors allow you to automatically update your ip via your dyndns address if you have one.
So its linked to your dyndns address ,no need to update manually or have a pc on all the time.

    I use Getflix btw,got 12 months for ~20 euro ,top class .

hi banny, sorry to dig up and old thread but i just bought an Amiko alien 2+ triple tuner and was wondering if you managed to confirm your question above? will i be ok using the HDMU E2 images for the amiko alien2

Yes m8 ,the Alien 2 and Alien 2+ ,Golden Media Triplex and the SAB Unix Triple all run the same Enigma 2 images .

pkt hyperion v3 is a good stable image mate:welldone:

Thats a bit old now,Latest version is Hyperion 4.5 .
Its the best image for the Alien 2 in my opinion ,very stable for day to day tv viewing and basic plugins like Crossepg, cooltv, autobouquets, autotimer, pvr etc
I will be uploading a backup in the next few days btw

I'm uploading a copy of a Hyperion 4.5 backup I recently made for the Alien 1 aka Alien 8900 aka Golden Media Reloaded 990 aka Sab Solo F+.

I've included a few mods and tweaks in this image to improve performance over the basic Hyperion 4.5 build.

Firstly it has the amixer audio boost script running so the audio levels are louder and more like Spark and other receiver levels.
You will no longer have to increase the volume levels on your tv to high levels and the fix doesn't distort the audio.

The tuxtext.ttf file has also been replaced, the teletext font is alot more rounded, larger and easier on the eye ,unlike the inbuilt teletext which is designed for eastern european languages.

History Zap Selector is included ,handy for channel browsing .(Prev/Next Button or Recall)
Use 0 to switch between 2 channels.

I've set the default skin as PLi-HD but there are a few other skins to try inc Metrix HD ,which is nice ,if you dont like that.
Plenty of free flash space to install other plugins .

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for HDMI at 720p.

This is an extremely solid image and very quick ,the Alien 1 has alot more free memory than the Alien 2 so it doesn't rely on a Swap file very often which improves performance.

Just because i don't openly state what units i have used recently doesn't mean i havn't used them. I played with an Amiko Alien 2 a few weeks ago with the OpenATV E2 image and yes i still think its a crock of bollocks. Its slow and glitchy just as it was in 2012. The guy who owned it offered to me for £50 and i'm still unsure if i would bother even for that price.

The OpenATV image for SH4 receivers is beta ,its only been out for less than 2 months.
Its been developed on a different platform to other previous SH4 images .
Its built with OE-A 2.2,has complete identical Linux and folder structure like all mipsel boxes
,online Update system via IPK like all mipsel Boxes and newer drivers with less e2 hacks.
Its getting there but its still buggy .

Hyperion 4 is much more reliable at the moment but hopefully OpenATV will release a non beta image soon as it has great potential.

The same was said about the Amiko SHD-8900 i had, that wasn't a bad box either. No idea what happened with the Alien 2 but it was a very glitchy box compared against the other SH4 boxes.

I have both receivers running Hyperion 4 ,both work very well ,I dont see much performance difference between them being honest.
General tv viewing and day to day operations are perfect ,never a green screen ,only odd time I may get one is for 1channel but thats notoriously unreliable on most receivers anyway.

I have had both and found the Alien 2 to be the biggest crock of bollocks i have ever had te displeasure of owning. I am more than happy with my DM800Se boxes. The Alien 2 was a waste of time. Even my old nBox was better and that had an even lower spec than the Alien did.

But you haven't had an Alien 2 since 2012 ,you sold it long before Enigma 2 reached maturity on it ,and by your own admission you only played with it for 8-10 hours if I recall correctly.
It has been very stable for the last year .

The Dm800se was very unreliable in its early stages too ,green screens galore ,it took a long time for it to reach maturity .
Would it be fair to call it a crock of bollocks based on those early days ??

There are alot of people who say that E2 on the Alien 2 is very stable now ,they have no reason to lie ,a lot of them are multiple receiver owners ,so they have a wide range of experience .
I've had a host of receivers in my time and I'd rate the Alien 2 the best bang per buck.

hi just read your 2 post,
i have dm 800hd with last bh image 211 alls ok good picture sd hd and fast.

Its a fine receiver the Dm800Hd but the main reason I sold mine was that it took ages to boot, almost 5 minutes .
I had it in a bedroom and it just took too long to power up for a box that had little use.
Openatv runs very well on it though.
I used Blackhole Phoenix on it for a few years ,great image that .

i do not recomend amiko alien triple turner , maybe single turner.
but if you read post in the forum lots of issues with amiko alien.

Alot of the issues with the Alien triple tuner were early on when Enigma 2 on it was in its infancy.
    It was very unstable.
Enigma 2 has been stable on it though for over a year .
Its every bit as stable as the Dm800 now.

Hmm not so sure about that .
    I have both an Alien 2 and a Dm800HD Se and I prefer the Alien 2 .
The Alien 2 is a much faster receiver to boot,it has much more flash for plugins ,and the SD picture quality is much better than the 800se.
The SH4 chipset handles sd pictures much better than mips .

I do like that the 800se has an internal hard drive ,which gives better performance and 2 usb drives on the back is good even if they are too close together to accomodate some devices.
Alien 2 has 2 sat tuners and a cable/terrestrial tuner so no need for plug and play ,you can also record 2 channels and watch a third ,cant do that on the 800se.

Channel zapping is very fast on the Alien 2 ,I find the interface slightly faster than the 800se,primarily due to the faster cpu.
I don't think the Alien 2 is a box openbox users and complete noobs would appreciate, I think it's a box that experienced sat box users who don't mind tinkering about would appreciate.

I've actually sold my Dm800HD ,its dog slow in comparison to the Alien 2 and the se will be next to go as I picked up an Alien 1 for 65 euro .

Better off going for a "true" mips receiver.
Amiko is good value for money but for a bit more, you'll get a receiver that is a bit faster and more stable with a lot more choice on image and plugins.
I have been playing around with a vu solo for the last week and it beats the amiko for speed and stability but a bit more expensive.

I presume you mean a Solo 2 as opposed to a Solo as the Alien 2 is much much faster than the Solo ?
