Tut updated, If anyone has a spare PC lying around please test & report back as I only tested script & compiled oscam in a virtual Setup..

I installed the 32 bit files this evening on a pc as its hard drive developed bad sectors so it needed a new install.
Working very well so far .
Omnikey worked straight away,I didnt have to do any additional configuration .
Will see how it goes for the next week and post some feedback.

    No, they are correct.
I named the bin files CCcam.x86_64 in both the x32 & x64 auto-install so the scripts would work in both and people could swap between x32 & x64 cccam..

From what I can see the 32 bit install script references CCcam.x86 only

    Quote

echo "moving CCcam.x86 executable to correct folder"
    mv /tmp/cccamoscam_install_package/CCcam.x86 /usr/local/bin
    chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/CCcam.x86

    It installs CCcam.x86 correctly

The CCcam check script references CCcam.x86_64 but as this isnt installed the check script is checking nothing so it says the same thing every 5 minutes

When I change the CCcam check script to reference CCcam.x86 it works correctly though.

Hope I am making sense .

Here is the 32bit version of this script for Ubuntu 12.04...
    linuxsat-support.com/cms/attachment/10048/

Tested on clean install 32 Bit 12.04, follow the tut above.

    good Luck

I think the CCcam check script in the 32 bit version is incorrect.

It seems to reference CCcam.x86_64 but should it not be CCcam.x86 ?

    #!/bin/sh
    process=`ps auxwww | grep CCcam.x86_64 | grep -v grep | awk '{print $1}'`
    if [ -z '$process' ]; then
    echo "Couldn't find CCcam.x86_64 running. Restarting server-binary" >> /var/cccamlog/cccam.check
    echo && date >>/var/cccamlog/cccam.check
    /usr/local/bin/CCcam.x86_64 -d >> /var/cccamlog/CCcam.log &
else echo "CCcam.x86_64 is still OK!" >> /var/cccamlog/cccam.check
    fi

you can always install the CCcam/oscam package and just use CCcam

I have Oscam and Cccam working nicely on my ubuntu server but I was thinking of switching to Oscam only (better cache, groups etc)

Can I use this current setup and just disable CCcam by setting it to listen on an unused port or is it more complicated than that ?
    Many thanks

    Edit :
thatfellows post here seems to detail what to do
    http://linuxsat-support.com/li…ackage-16.html#post126527

On another note I am getting an error with Proftpd when the server boots up.
Proftpd : warning cannot start neither in standalone nor in inetd/xinetd mode .
Its not listed in webmin either.
Apache also seems to be giving some error.

I am not sure I need either of these to be running anyway,I can login fine with winscp .

    Hi guys,
I'm currently using an Omnikey 1021 as a smartcard reader with my Ubuntu server.
Its working well but I am wondering if an Omnikey 3121 reader would be better or are both readers similar in performance ?
    Thanks

You can currently only swap existing channels directly with each other using the custom.txt file ,its easy enough to do .
So you could move these channels into the Entertainment bouquet but you would have to switch them for existing channels, perhaps some less used ones.

I asked Lraizer ,the Autobouquets plugin author about this a while back and he said when he gets time he may add additional channel ordering options.
I was hoping to modify the autobouquets to get a custom channel order ,where 5*,5usa ,itv2,itv3 and itv4 are added into the Entertainment bouquet and each channels number could be changed.
I also would like to reorder channels in bouquets to add the +1 channels directly after their parent .
Hopefully Lraizer could look into this when he gets time .

I find it quite funny that the Satstation image is made by the main retailer in the UK and its the worst image out of all of them :10lol:

Hardly a good advertisement is it

Yeah their images are very poor.
They hardly ever update the code either to fix bugs,HDMU bring out an update every few days and PKT have updates too .

There is decent support for the receiver on the continent ,especially Germany and Poland where the Triplex is popular.
Pkt are due to release the Hyperion 2 image in the next week or two so that could be a big development.
I honestly think the receiver could be just as good as a Vu Duo with the correct software developers.

Hi I have the Alein 2 and I have tried a fair few images,
But I have been hit with the same problem mentioned a fair few times juddering HD picture.
I believe this is due to the processor not being a mips.

my question is does anyone have an enigma 2 image working with HD channels and no juddering?

I have used PKT Hyperion and the new HDMU images and haven't noticed any juddering on HD channels .
The picture looks fine to me.
Scalar sharpness is a bit high on the Hdmu image but thats only a small issue .

I'd stay away from any of the Satstation images ,I tried them out and they were very poor ,box was completely unresponsive .

If the price goes up, I'm dumping my card, regardless of AntiCS measures. Its already the most overpriced card on the market. 600 odd channels that nobody wants and a handful of half decent channels.. If anything, the sub should be going down in price after the loss of some premiership rights..

The only way the price will be going is up I'm afraid.
Sly lost their heads when bidding for the rights thinking Al Jazeera were going to bid .
They ended up paying an extra 70% over the previous rights deal.
I cant see them recouping that amount ,this will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my question, hypothetically speaking of course :) if someone ordered multi room with their subscription. Would it be possible to use these cards, with Setanta on at two different addresses or must they be on same IP?

There is no call back on Setanta multiroom subs so yes you can use them at different addresses.
Its 1.49 euro per month extra for a multiroom Setanta sub .

I currently pay Setanta 8.99 per month, instead of 16.99 ,have paid that for the last few years .I have free multiroom too (special offer).
I just threaten to cancel every 3 months .
The new price is expected to be at least 20 euro from August 1st.

You can get the nBox5800sx receiver for under £100, which in my opinion is a hundred times more stable than the Alien 2 or GM Triplex which is the same receiver as the Alien 2. Its just in a different box.

    Nano

The PKT Hyperion image on the Alien 2 is very stable as are the recent HDMU images .

Im not sure if this is the problem but did you delete the partitions before restoring the backup?
I remember having a few errors if there were partition tables on the drive.
You can use partition wizard on the HBCD DVD to delete partitions in the same session an you restore the backup.

Also m8, when I originally wrote this tut I used HBCD-15.2-Restored-V.1.1-Proteus but I found bugs (One of which was with Acronis backup/restore) so I changed to HBCD 15.1 v1.0-Proteus
The main thing I found with Acronis is that the backup must completes 100% without errors, I have had a few errors restoring backups that did not effect the OS image..

    Thanks thatfellow .
I didnt delete the partition before restoring the backup .

I completed Step 2 (Creating the backup) and it worked correctly,I didnt get any errors .
I get the error at stage (iv) of Step 4 (Restoring Backup to Wiped Disk) when I select the backup file so its not a destination drive error.

I got Ubuntu 12.04 server working well on the Fx170 using your superb tutorials m8
    http://linuxsat-support.com/li…-1-3-install-package.html
I used the first half of that but used your "Automated Oscam only installer Script for Ubuntu x32/x64 tutorial "
I also used Ten Below's Webmin tutorial and Master G's "How to install Omnikey readers on Linux PC tutorial" .
    All working well now .

I ended up using a 20gb laptop drive in a usb case ,but I also tried an 8gb flash drive and that gave the same error with Acronis True Image so its not a drive error.

My main reason for backing up the server is if I want to add CCcam to it later on as I currently have Oscam only .
Can a backup be restored to a different sized drive ?

I certainly don't think they are worth the money they are been retailed at, not when you see what else is available.

    Nano

If you are looking for a twin tuner sat receiver there aren't many alternatives for 155 euro which the Golden Media Triplex can be bought for .

    Nice tutorial ,very detailed .

I tried backing up my Ubuntu 12.04 server earlier but encountered an issue when restoring the image.
When I select "Recover My Disks" to restore the image I backed up I get an error.
It says "Failed to read from the sector 63 of the hard disk".
The hard drive is good and the install is working well ,from googling the error I have encountered seems to be a bug in the Acronis software

I found the Alien 2 a complete pain in the arse and its no secret that i am not a big fan of those boxes or the main retailer, but thats another story.

I can honestly say i have never had a box that was as big a pain in the ass as the the Alien 2 was. If you go for a proper MIPS box you will notice a huge difference in stability and also the availability of images and plugins. I'm not completely putting down boxes that use a SH4 chipset as i have two of them, both i may add are 100% more stable than my Alien 2 ever was, they just aren't in the same league as a MIPS based box.

To be honest nano ,it is well over 6 months since you had an Alien 2 ,the enigma 2 images have come an awful long way since then,I wouldnt have bought one otherwise.
They are far far better now and quite stable.

The remote response has improved (via eps settings in config file) its as good now as my Dm800 .
Sure there are alot more plugins available for the Vu+ and Dreambox but most of the plugins I use on other Enigma 2 receivers work fine on the Alien 2.
Crossepg,Cool tv,Autotimer,Autobouquets,1channel,icefilms,RTE player, iplayer ,WebInterface as well as Picons and lots of Skins .

The AutoVolumeAdjustment is still a bit iffy, the volume seems to vary a bit too much .
Oscam on HDMU needs a few config changes to work on HDMU but it works well when changed.

With regard to the main retailer I will agree with you ,they seem to think every problem is down to user config errors and will not allow constructive criticism. Some of their preconfigured images are buggy and out of date .

Try a new HDMU image ,I'm running 11012 and it is very stable and fast .
For 155 euro delivered ,I am pleased with my purchase ,its less than half the cost of a Vu+ Duo and has a terrestrial tuner which is handy for users in Ireland with Saorview.
