    Hello guys.
Got my new box, followed the easy setup book, all the vu does is says "Starting" and then reverts back to "VU+ Solo2" and stays there.

Any help please :cry_002: Is there a factory reset I can do???

btw I tried to install an image, Vix, but when it asked for power button to be pressed, it just went back to "VU+ Solo2" I will try another flash and see what happens.

Getting back to the current draw on an actuator, could be upto 20A @ 36Vdc. What size actuator you need for 2m comstar no idea, without looking it up. .63 seems ideal dont forget to set mechanical limits inside the actuator. Stops the motor overloading when you adjust electrical limits.

Good luck, and keep me posted please,

    Hi dymeh,

If you take a look at any cable manufacturers websit, ie; Delta, they have downloadable swg figures and current/voltage drop calculators, check SatelliteSuperstore, they are very helpfull. Press option 1 and ask about cables and sizes. It has been over 30 years since I was in the electrical installation game. My setup came with flat cable. 1 lnb sheilded, 2 core for the original Bluethunder lnb, (for auto skew) and then 4 core, 2 for reed switch and 2 for motor + & - Red and Black. The motor feed (+ & -) are approx 0.5mm. The Dish is about 30mtres away, as the cable runs, and I have never experienced any probs with driving a 1.2 CM. Only downside are the Superjacks, the lower bearing gets dry and seizes. Makes a hell of row when the jack grindes and then falls apart. I tried to repair one once found the right size bearing but because of the way the manufacturer fits them it did not last long.I have a Vbox. signiture should read V box,, have VU on the brain at the moment.

Sorry if I have bored you,

Thanks again digi247. I have just ordered the new box and a new lnb, (Inverto Black Pro with C120 feed horn, whilst cleaning the dish the other day I knocked the Invacom and damaged the feed horn. Tried the positioner and all that side is ok.

A small word of warning to all you experts, I will/might be asking a lot of help. I think I have downloaded and printed out a couple of 100 pages to help get me going, well quite a few.

Many thanks to you digi247 and the rest of the forum for plain English help to Newbee.

    :feel_good:

If anyone is in my area/or passing, White Colne, Essex. Send me an email and I will buy you a pint, or a coffee.

What is the current draw, (amperes of the motor) you intend to connect to?? several websites will show a table of min/max of cable/wire size and the V drop, (voltage drop) over length.

    Hope this is of help,

:goodpost1: I am still yet to buy my first Linux based sat receiver. After all the reading, of several forums, I have decided on a VU+ Solo2. My old TM-6900 PSU is blown/dead. I have written down all the satellite positions from the memory of the VU box. Because of the way I had to set up the 6900 all the sat positions are in a different order than what you state, ie; PO1 is 1* West and PO2 is 28.2*E and PO3 is 30*W. Am I right in assuming that as long as I put into the new Solo2 the same position numbers as are on the VU box I should find all the memorised satellites already in the VU box? This is all new to me but I am learning more and more the more I read. I know it would be better if I had the new sat receiver now and I could then try out all that I have read so far. Also does it matter which Image I use??
    :doubt:
Appreciate your time and help, (anybody),
