I should add..... No disrespect to to Ten Below. That is what I had most probably done as well. trying to run before I can walk.
I have learnt one most very important thing? Make sure that the box you buy has all the necessary parts/modifications done to it already. ie: hard disk, (for backup) a good usb flash drive, (for flashing and loading your reciever/box, both should be FAT32.
sorry master G, i was trying to load C*****, but everything that i tried on the video's just did not work. in the end, as suggested by stevejo, installed vu+ toolbox and him holding my hand, manged to load the cam. thank you stevejo, i am now a very happy bunny.:trbtjrjq: now to find out more abouy linux. i tried it once, back in the days of ME and XP. had to completely wipe the hard disk, windows and linux can'y get on together on the same drive. now i can 'dual boot in win 7, i might try it again. now where did i put thatbook and cd????? added a seagate 500gb x2.5 inch hard disk and bought a new 8 gb usb flash drive. my old 1gig might have been some of my problem. the pc sometimes said "no" can't find K drive.

afternoon gentlemen, i watched and tried all 3 'videos by Ten Below in the early hours of this morning. 'how to install ipk files' i still cannot see any c*** in my vu+solo2. what am i doing wrong???

yes using catseye. i'm sticking with vix now. only reason i changed image liked some of the graphics. now setting up C***** and the like. piece of cake setting up tuner, positions and scanning, still been at it long enough since i bought solo2, couple of weeks ago. learning now by my own mistakes.
sussed out not being unable to overwrite blackhole. after several attempts i used the latest open vix, success. still don't know why positioner could not be modified above position1?? tune would not work above or below 19.2E ( the < > refer to the left and right of the ok button ). has anybody had probs with blackhole 2.0.3?? now down to c**** and the like?? something else to learn.
phoenix, i have tried that, several times, want to go back to vix. i loaded blackhole 2.0.3 and positioner locked and set on 1, went to 16E found,scanned and went back to positioner setup and went inti 'tune' and 19.2E no function ie < > to find 16E. position can be changed from 1-2 but no tune. this happens on all other sats as well. of course i could be doing something wrong, i'm very new and willing to learn.

I know, :loleng: us English are a bit slow, lol, but Iv'e been waiting for the sat engineer to come back and just tweek the dish. All it needed was a a small amout of skew on the lnb, now it is back like it was about 14yrs ago on it's first install. What I mean about favourites is the way I want them, ie: BBC East, BBC 2, Anglia ITV, Cnannel 4, Channel 5 etc: etc: Dont want 'Marysia' my wife to get too confused, lol. Setup virtually the same as the TV is setup. Thanks again stevejo for your halp so far, and the rest of the forum for pointing me the right direction. This is some 'BOX' what can't I don't know yet??? I was reading, from a printout about 'dvbsnoop', can't find that anywhere in any folders in vu+. Do I really need it?? now to configure 'My Favourites List' and to suss out C***** and the like??
btw; How is the new dish project coming along?
Right thats 7 sats, 5W, 0.8W, 13E, 16E, 19.2E, 23.5E and 28E scanned and 'hd' is not too bad. Just gotta sort favourites out now. I b***** swore when a little voice said, "OO! I don't like that, it reminds of a Samsung TV we saw a few years ago". I personally liked it and from where I sit you can hardly see the frame, neat touch I thought. Well there you go???
ok guys, had to remove afesaid, misses did not like the frame round the picture. :angry: very!
cant get into vu+, boot manager not found in dcc. what have i done? updated to image 3.0.668 i think the startup screen is the bike rider.

Many thanks cazuela, I have read the post that there is a bug in the latest image so I'll go one lower and try it out. One big question if I do upgrade do I have to reconfig all sats and channels again? I am getting quicker at it now, with all the practice I've had. A smaller question where do I load ts panel or a link on the forum to guide me? I have searched, but obviously put into the search engine the question.
I have another question? I am useing Vix Extreme Image 3.0.574. Should I, 1, upgrade to latest image? 2, in network srtup should DHCP be yes or no. Telnet and FTP both connect. ie: PC to VU+ Solo2 to Router.

I know its early, but is there a way of changing favourites headings? I have updated vix image with vix extreme. Scanned and saved 5 sats so far, all channels on each sat. I would like to change say "News" to "Sat 1" I don't know if that makes sense or not or just leave the headings as they are and then just scan different sats into whatever heading already displayed..
Thanks again stevejo, I'll try that right now. btw since retiring in 2009, had a heart attack, depression, lost about 3 stone and both hands done for carpel tunnel syndome. These last couple of weeks trying to setup the solo2 I have really enjoyed. Semms as though I was back at work again crawling under printing presses looking for elictricl/electronic faults BUT without getting dirty.
Right I have all sats in and scanned. Whay is the easiest method of making favourites for 4 other sats? 28.2E is all in a favourites file. Do I just select sats then go through them and see what to choose? Can the headings in favourites be changed? say from Kids to 19.2E? and so on. btw, tried what you said stevejo, but that brings up teletext???

Backup saved to pc spare hard disk. My thanks go out to cazuela, tebaa and stevejo who is apperently wireing his new dish or new sat box. Now all I have to do is get my head around this c** business technology and of course plugins.

I have just installed a new Vix image, Vix Extreme, superb, the handset seems to work better. I was always re-pressing any of the buttons to navigate. I am really chuffed with myself and especially grateful for all the help that this forum has given me. 28.2E setup, now for the other 4 sats.
Please can someone guide me to the "Get rid of Subtitles" please??
