    I think that the names of the SAT channels you mention are not quite accurate. Why are you censoring the text ? Movistar+ ?????


    It would be appropriate to also indicate:

    • SAT position on which these channels are broadcast
    • also the name of the SAT provider
    • origin of the country in which these SAT channels are broadcast (country of the SAT provider)

    The best thing is probably to directly obtain the service reference code (SRC) for the individual channels on which the picons are out of date. This can be done in several ways. One of the easier ones is to connect to the set-top box (on the same LAN network) via a PC, using a web browser, directly to the OpenWebif interface in the set-top box:

    In the case of the service reference code (SRC), there is also a little more work for Chocholoušek, because he has to find out exactly what is being broadcast on these parameters, but it is better than the incomplete names of SAT channels, like the ones you just mentioned.

    I really don't know what happened. The first time Chocholousek needed a break. It lasted a few months - I think, it was 5 months. Now it's been going on for the same long time - this "second break".


    I'm not surprised, because it's really slave labor and practically completely free work. Moreover, many people undoubtedly steal the picons - for their own projects. Namely, some picons need to be specially searched for somewhere on the Internet, because there are no direct .PNG files - vector graphics of logos. Even AI can't get a perfect PNG file from JPG graphics - with pure vector graphics of the logo.


    Chocholousek's graphic logos were very clean and very nicely processed (to make them better visible).


    I haven't communicated with Chocholousek for a long time, since Skype has been dead. So I don't know what's going on.

    There are already other free projects with picons. For example, there is a very good resource with picons on Github (https://github.com/Belfagor2005/logos/tree/main). But I am too lazy to create another plugin that would use the Github API and download only some PNG files from Github on request. I have already communicated with Lululla a little bit in this direction. But I still haven't started anything myself.


    You need to have a reliable source of picons, to which people contribute and which someone also takes care of meticulously. Then you need to find a method for downloading picons (.PNG files). Unfortunately, Github is not very good for downloading many files or even small files.


    Finally, there are potential threats of DDoS attacks and overloading the picon server. Also, the picon data server at Ellano.sk (the Picon.cz website is also stored there), where Chocholousek's picons are stored, has sometimes been under attack or overloaded - by repeated downloading of picon packages. So it's not as easy as it seems.

    There are plenty of picons everywhere.

    They should be carefully managed

    - graphically and divided by type/format/background

    - other plugins do it, but the sources aren't always up to date

    - I created a single container, and there are scripts to automatically update the format already on GitHub (whenever requested and with every update)

    - today I added more picons (rakuten-samsung)

    - we're behind on satellite, digital, and cable picons.


    They're usually downloaded to your PC and updated with a program like satedit or e-channelizer ;) very efficient.

    - if you want to use the remote control, a fairly thorough intervention is required not only on the aspects I've already mentioned, but also on the backend side of the plugin structure.

    It takes minutes to do all the work (dual satellite), imagine on a desktop computer.


    GitHub is actually a bit slow with these things. I currently have: Number of graphic files: 91715

    Your plugin is very fast. All you need to do is update the picons.

    You could also download all the picons from a source and make a good match (but I assure you it's not easy, I'm going crazy with my new plugin). But I'm pretty far along, so to speak. From m3u to .tv, it's very fast, and out of 1000 channels, it has 65-80% coverage. It all depends on the .m3u file (try it ;))

    You could consider adding another class that would take other (missing) picons for the final match... but I don't know. It's a real shame.

    Yes, I am the developer / author of the plugin.

    However, I am not the creator of the picon packages. The picons were created by Chocholousek himself, already as pre-prepared 7zip packages (according to satellite position). So I won't even influence the creation of the picons, since that's Chocholousek's responsibility.


    It would be good to do something like that (I don't know if it is already done) on the Github source. Then it would be enough to release some script for converting always current 7zip packages (or other archive formats) on Github. I mean creating 7zip packages - according to SRC tables. Of course, it doesn't have to be only according to satellite positions. It can also be a pikon package - according to satellite provider - which, however, represents more work and more 7zip packages. These packages are then not a problem to download from Github, even with 1000 accesses from 1000 IP addresses (at least I think it shouldn't be a problem). Or upload these prepared packages somewhere else to another space.

    But I don't need a Windows app.

    I have various scripts from my old work with set-top boxes that download & update the picons in several set-top boxes - at once. I don't need this. I want a Enigma2 plugin. And a plugin that will be for everyone, without payment / free of charge and will be as intuitive as possible.


    If I want to do something for myself, a primitive script (Linux Shell, Windows PowerShell or Batch, Autoit3, Python, Perl, ...) is really enough. A script for myself - for my own needs... for the picons of my provider... for the needs of my installed distribution of a specific firmware (Enigma2). The script will be ready in a few minutes... maximum in a few hours.


    I'm still mentioning about a Enigma2 plugin that will be free (without having to pay money) and will be for everyone and will be universal. After all, that's what Open Source projects are about :-).

    I was referring to compacting zip files and then downloading them. The software only prepares the files and can send them to a host or box.

    The rest is done by the Python code.

    I don't know if I'm allowed to, since the Github source belongs to you and not to me :). Also, downloading individual files from Github, if there are, for example, 1500 of them, probably won't work well. I don't know. I haven't tried using Github as a file storage server yet :). It might be possible, but I don't know. Anyway, I don't own any storage server... so there's nowhere to store it on the internet.
