It could be that the ipk has changed something in the start script (I have not checked the ipk I'm on my mobile ) or a general image issue I seem to remember from a while back. Tbh I rarely use the ipks I only ever change the........bin file and rename it the same as the old version.

My suggestion would be to flash your backup and change just the bin file, that way the start script and your configs remain unchanged.

  • I did a cleanup up the oscam-emu installation.
Installed ver. 11702-798 from Mohamed. Placed my config files. Started it in Oscam Setup.
    Working, with webif working also.
It starts with oscam as the selection. Auto start with cold boot working
Downloaded just the binary file oscamsvn11711-emu from Mohamed and then Levi 45.
Shortened the file name oscam-svn11711-osmio4k-webif-dvbapi-libusb-emu798 to oscam.
FTP to the correct directory. Set permissions to 755. Rebooted.
No start with the Oscam Setup selection for oscam.
No webif. Neither Mohamed or Levi 45 will start.
Reverted to original 11702-798 oscam. Working when rebooted. Auto start working.

** Change of the binary was based on the changelog. Perhaps better PV & BISS, other functionality (not using cards)?**

    So what do you think?

    Edit:
I tried the 11704 version for AARCH64 extracted from the ipk. Placed it where it needed to be. Permissions set to 755. Shortened the name to oscam.
    Rebooted. Nope! Nothing.
Tried just the binary from here. Nada. Zip, zilch, zingo.

Crazy stuff. Jens, in the past I've been able to do as you told me. And it worked (usually).

  • Reverted to original 11702-798 oscam. Working when rebooted. Auto start working.

If this one is working, why don't you stick to a working system and keep trying for what doesn't work.

At the end, you need a working system, not what is new…

If you refer to my comment:
** Change of the binary was based on the changelog. Perhaps better PV & BISS, other functionality (not using cards)?**
As was the case with AFN some time ago. I was hoping perhaps that the changelog (which you are free to read regarding my curiosity).
Or as is the case with the Discovery channels currently. That perhaps something in the new binary would enhance performance.
    Get it?
I have ran the same version for a long time now. Kept the same config files. And IF you read Jens' comment, which has worked for me in the past:
"Tbh I rarely use the ipks I only ever change the........bin file and rename it the same as the old version."
The 2 different AARCH64 versions do not work. opkg remove <the previous version> and installing the latest version, then placing my key file.
    Just isn't working.
I did not mention that I have just gotten my 2nd OsMio4k. This is the + version.
OpenATV 6.4 installed and sats configured and scanned in.
So. With a new receiver, why would you not want to try a newer version of oscam if it may give a side-by-side performance improvement/degradation comparison?
Nevertheless. 11.711-emu-r798 ipk installs but does not work.

Carburetors, points and condensers work too. But. What if?
Perhaps. Fuel injection would work even a tad better?
C'mon. You have to agree on at least this.
"If this one is working, why don't you stick to a working system and keep trying for what doesn't work.

At the end, you need a working system, not what is new…"

Thank you for your comments and constructive suggestions.

    Shortened the name to oscam.

Was the old existing binary named "oscam" or something else? The new binary must be exactly the same as how the old was named or the softcam script won`t start it.

Try starting the binary in telnet to see if its missing a required library/dependency. If it doesn`t start you`ll get an error with what`s required.

If it starts, check how the binary is named in the softcam start script and compare it to the new oscam binary.

Yes master g. A on my first OsMio the binary is in fact "oscam". And it starts, and auto starts after booting. Softcam Setup (red button) shows none and Oscam. usr/bin shows oscam. Kind of the same as it has been. So that is what I named the newer version(s). And it won't start.
I'll read a bit and see if I can find how to start in telnet.
Briefly on my working OsMio I did try both new binaries after naming the original "oscam.bak" and placing them with 755 as the premission.
So that did not work, and then 'just because' transferred 'oscam.bak off of the receiver. Of course with init 3 and 4, and restarts.
Let's see if I get a hint when starting with telnet.
The start script shows oscam also. We shall see.

    Edit:

RE: The LATEST OSCAM-EMU FOR VARIOUS PLATFORMS Discussion and Request Thread

Looks like I'm not alone. Tried my configs as there was no reader emulator. It crashed. Can't say this has happened before, so pardon the confusion.
    Will continue trying to debug.

  • This is oscam-1.20_svn-r11711-798 EMU compiled with Raspberry Pi 32bit and ALL FEATURES: need pcsc, libusb 1.0, libssl 1.1.1

Many thanks for your patience :-)

183E Tiger card used to update just fine witht this config.

  • Add the keys one by one from web-inf

    ;

  • Thanks but ti wont work because you put dvbapi user. and i connect from my dreambox to linux pc oscam so that wont work.

i am looking at logs now maybe these emm filters are the problem:

    | All EMM FILTERS (5) added successfully |

i dont understand why not one single emm is coming?

i will try with another card tomorrow

  • try with internal reader of dreambox and use the config above and just modify:

    ;

  • I'll read a bit and see if I can find how to start in telnet.

If the binary is in /usr/bin folder you would use this ~ /usr/bin/oscam -b

It was a busy week. I flashed the latest 6.4 image and tried Mohameds 11711 ipk. It didn't install.
Performed an opkg update and tried again. Installed and running.
For future reference I would like to ask. Do changelog entries such and below do anything for the emu portion for pv, biss....cardless operation?
I ask because as Jens mentioned to me before. The 798 portion of oscam has not changed in a long time.

    Changeset 11711:

    Message:

[dvbapi] Block EMM pid 0x1FFF completely

    Changeset 11710:

    Message:

[dvbapi] Allow ECM pid 0x1FFF for FAKE caid as well

    Changeset 11709:

    Message:

[dvbapi] Allow ECM / EMM pid 0x1FFF only for BISS
