this is not the proper answer ....to upgrade rescue loader simply give/type the command in DCC/telnet ,press ENTER and then reboot

I have attached the file to your post instead of just a link.
How do I flash this recovery file please? I have booted into recovery mode and selected the file, but it says it's invalid.

I asked how I flash it, not from where I download it.

I have tried this
1. Copy this .bin to /tmp
2. Open telnet and login
3. flash-rescue /tmp/*.bin
4. Wait 3-5 minutes. Wait for DONE info!
5. Power OFF to 10 sec and power ON.
6. Done. You have new rescue loader.I fail at stage 1, it won't allow FTP while in recovery. Do I need to be booted into an operating image instead of recovery?

The rescue image is updated in normal operation. Not in rescue mode!
If the appropriate rescue image for your box is created via FTP in /tmp, enter this shortened command via telnet:
OE2.5 example: flash-rescue /tmp/zImage-rescue-*.bin
Then simply enter reboot in telnet or reboot the box.

Thanks. While in active ATV image, I transferred the file uploaded by hannibal_lecter. I then flashed it with the command you gave. It is still 103 after reboot.

I used this procedure to update my dm920 from #103 to #104 (latest available - not #105) without any problems. I've always had DreamOS images flashed, and I don't know if an Open image in the flash would be a problem.
The latest file for the dm900 is the one you'll find in the unstable firmware section (zImage-rescue-3.14-r0-dm900-20201201.bin). I don't know if that's the one you're trying to send.
