  • Hi,

Another question about ZGemma H7C and OpenATV. Does the default image allow to watch pictures easily with the remote, like

advancing forwards and backwards and pausing? And does it have a slide show function? If not, is there any plugin to do this?

    Thanks.

    Merry christmas.

  • Kodi!

I haven't bought it yet, and won't until I check that a few very very basic features she would use can be done and easily

with this box. Before risking buying this thing, I need to verify that these features work, and in case they don't, I will

    not buy it for her.

Regarding the photos/pictures viewing, I could install Kodi as a plugin, if it works like that, but maybe there is a simpler

way to accomplish this, or a, let's say, smaller plugin if one is needed.

I forgot to mention, and maybe because I took it for granted and I shouldn't, the most important function that must

    work flawlessly, the Timer Recordings.

Do scheduled recordings work if the unit is powerd off? will the unit power on itself to record, and more with than one

the same day if needed, and once the recording is finished, will it power off?

This is very important to not having to leave the box on all day. She still has an old Samsung DVD recorder with an

internal HDD which does this perfectly, it powers on and off itself for each scheduled recording.

Thanks for your help and time, and Merry Christmas everyone.

  • Jimdefruit told you what to install - this is the simplest option. Not included in the image but easily installable from Plugins!

You have an E2 box? Test the recording function yourself and see how it works....

  • Nope, I don't have any Enigma 2 box now; right now I only have an HTCP with dual Sat and dual DTT tuners.

I used to have an old Dreambox back in the day, though, but different machines, and I don't remember if

these scheduled recordings worked by then nor if I ever used them, sorry.

  • Yes, they work.

Simple method: Multi EPG > choose a programme > press the little red button (not one of the 4 coloured ones) and confirm.

  • Alright, so I guess you turned off the box after a schedule recording and it woke up itself from Deep Standby to record.

I just found a manual for the H7 box - a H7C version was not available, but there is very little info on all what the box

can do. I've been seaching for more info and found a video on the Tube where the page 'Timer Entry' can be seen,

and the option 'After Recording', where you can select 'Deep Standby', which I guess will turn off the box once the

    scheduled recording has finished.

Well, still searching for a couple more features we need that the manual doesn't talk about, like Fast Forward and

Rewind at several speeds, Saving positions to resume playback from where a video is stopped, and Zoom. Also, it

would be nice if the box could spin down the internal HDD when it is not accessed. It would be great if all these

features were available by default or at least through plugins.

    Cheers.

  • All that is available with any E2 STB...

Read in PurE2, Zgemma H7 and OSCam Emu sections...

  • Most of those features seem to be available on diffeent Enigma2 boxes/images combos - I found info in that direction.

Hopefully they work fine on the Zgemma.

Now the most important thing I want to make sure it works is the spin down of the internal HDD, when powered off in

Deep Standby, and when the unit is on but the HDD is not accessed. I just read a few posts somewhere where users

were complaining about their disks not spinning down even when powered off in Deep Standy - they came back to

spin after some seconds. Maybe these were old problems with old images, or any other problem hardware related...

I have to find out if with the latest images the disk stays completely turned off.

  • I have not seen this in my H7. Maybe I missed it but...

Install SSD, if you are suspicious of it...
