Why do people think FBC tuners are required for Unicable

Because if you have, for example, a Vu Duo 4K with FBC tuners, there are 8 of them (2 physical + 6 virtual), so with unicable connection you can realistically connect every single tuner to their unique SRC and all 8 tuners work independently. In practice, this means that you can record from 8 different TPs, or 8 network clients can stream from such a box, all with one coax cable. Of course, this is not a necessity, but a better choice.

Absolutely correct on benefit of using the two different technologies together. But I am trying to understand why people think you need FBC tuners to be able to use Unicable.

Are all boxes able to use Unicable ? I had it on my xpeed lx3 years ago until it died and since then have used FBC tuners ( mostly.)
Perhaps it has been poorly advertised, I do not fully understand which boxes are able to use it, if it is hardware or firmware / driver dependant ?

All Enigma2 images can use it. There is slight difference in code between OpenATV and OpenPLI version, but still works.
Even a DM500 with OpenPLI Enigma will also work. The Viark receivers also work.

Then it is probably one of the most under used E2 feature:thumbup:

So on a Zgemma H9 Combo with 1 x DVB-S2X tuner could you record multiple channels at same time with a Unicable LNB.

Only on the same TP which a universal LNB will do.
