The current set of Gigablue 4k receivers do not work with USB tuners (according to users in UK, Ireland and Russia). They stopped working when they changed drivers in 2018

There is an issue on Gigablue's github here:

    GB UE 4K: USB Tuners not working · Issue #8 · GigaBlue-STB/meta-gigablue
USB tuners are not working on the the GB UE 4K. They install correctly. Scanning does not find any channels. If you add lamedb file with them included they do…

If you want to use a USB tuner with the newer receiver, wait for someone to confirm that it works before buying one. I have the GB UE 4K and GB UHD Quad 4K, both do not work with USB tuners. Even the Sundteks which use their own standlalone drivers do not work.

  • Ok

    Thanks so much

  • Well tomorrow if i have been a good boy i will get to play with my new box. I have seen today that openspa have released an image for the box. I think openatv or openspa will be in slot one.

What i am finding a little strange is have they fitted 2 x dvb-s2x as standard or if the optional tuner you need to buy is dvb-s2x. If this is the latest standard why would it not be fitted out the box. Reading wos advert for the trio pro that looks to have 2 x dvb-s2x tuners. My qviart dual has this tuner and i can scan in certain mux channels on 19e but my solo 4k scan them in.

  • if you want to test with the images, put your standard image in slot 2

because if it crashes and no longer boots

you have to flash it again with USB and that always goes into slot 1. If FTP still works, you can change the slot.

In boot, copy STARTUP_X to STARTUP

wenn du mit den images testen willst , mach dein standart image in slot 2 , den wenn es crahst und nicht mehr bootet

must du neu mit usb flashen und das geht immer in den slot 1

wenn ftp noch geht kannst du den slot umstellen

    in boot

    STARTUP_X auf STARTUP copieren

    Mmmm....im now confused.

I thought the built in tuner was TWO (dual) FullBandCapture DVBSX (multistream) tuners ? - ( so 2 x FBC DVBSX tuners )

With options for either a dual dvbsx or a dual dvb/c tuner.

But it actually looks like (from the gigablue specs on its site) that the FBC tuners are just DVB S2

Yep that's what has confused me. So wos show this on the non pro. Why would they only add dvb s2 to the pro?

I wouldn't worry about the spec on the website.

The later original Quad 4K came with DVB-S2x tuners built in, but the website was never updated, I suspect it's just a copy and paste from the original box spec.

Confused same as old quad uhd 4k fbc tuner as standard so at that time optional extra DVB-S2X multi-stream tuners now available.
    but you are talking
but quad pro it comes with fbc tuner built in but the confusion could be even on older quad uhd 4k

    Capture.PNG

P.S. this is image from my quad uhd 4k

I think older models may have just been DVB -S2 as for what I have read multistream is only available on certain feeds .

If it is blind scanning then not possible as far as I know on and FBC tuners.

  • But then again on IMPEX webpage

Demodulator: 8 x DVB-S2 FBC (Full Band Capture) ex works

    • Plug and Play (PnP) GigaBlue Tuner v.5 (Optional) Dual DVB-C/T2
    • Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth module 5.4
    • Tuner option Plug-and-Play:

    and then

    • Tuner option Plug-and-Play:
    • PnP Gigablue Dual DVB-S2x Tuner v.2 (Optional)
    • PnP Gigablue Dual DVB-C/T2 Tuner v.2 (H.265) (Optional

so once again we do not know

even with BT 5.4 as far as I though no need for a separate BT dongle but now not sure

I won't know untill january because I ordered DVB-C/T2 Tuner and SSD drive and paid for in september.

  • Well all set up for now, the box ships with a team blue image installed. I have set the motorised dish up on lnb 1, and the only issues i had was getting the hdmi to talk to the tv. It's currently direct and not through my 4k hdmi switch. Vhannabal rotating channel list installed and ncam 15 installed via usb. I did not see an option within the team blue image to download any cams. Test on 0w, 9w afn, 19e sky de, and sky uk. I've blue screened it once but that was pushing the playwithstreamrelay button too quickly. The tuner a is dvb-s2x. I have just tried scanning the 19e mux channels for nfl but i guess they only appear on sundays and games time. Now its time to get to know the remote, merry christams.

++update hdmi issues solved by changing the hdmi to the one that came in the box+++

  • So just a little update after playing with the box for a short while today. The teamblue image from the offset will not shutdown or reboot. I've tried to update the software but after the software was downloaded the box just holds and would not reboot. A switch off and on got the image started again. Multiboot is set up from the offset so i dropped open atv onto usb stick in its zipped format and used the software function within the teamblue image to flash the image into slot 2. Also not there are button descriptions missing from the team blue image for the coloured button commands. Openatv flashed and the box tried to reboot but would not, i took the option of a hard reset and luckly the box booted into openatv. There are no issues yet found with the openatv image the box reboots and goes into standby fine. Going to try openspa later or tomorrow and maybe flash the teamblue image again into slot one.

  • Having 4GB of RAM doesn’t mean Linux has 4GB available.

This is the case with all STB boxes, including the new Gigablue. Typically, only 1GB or less is free for Linux, which is actually quite substantial. The rest is reserved for video RAM, QuadPiP, and OpenGL caching.
