I'm now using OSCAM-pcscd without problem. My basic error was
putting the config files in OSCAM folder, not the config folder. Thanks to all for your help.
What card do you use in the pcsc reader ?

there is some thing stoping u using other cams i dont no why strange to me
If you add a softcamd binary to the directory /usr/softcams/ - it will automatically appear in SoftCam manger
If you want it to appear in SoftCam script, you need to create a startup file (script) in /etc/init.d/
I no what u saying but it will not allow to load other emu oscam on why some thing is storing u on the image why unlese proves me rong
and what do you put in the /usr/softcams/ directory ?
To get a proper reply you need to supply the correct information, what receiver, what skin, what version of oscam, can you use ftp, have yoy tried downloading another version of oscam as that will put the correct files in tuxbox. Its all guesswork at the moment.
Skin is irrelevant.
What car123 is wanting to say is that he is using softcams that people upload on forums.
Unless he says exactly which one, it will be impossible to help him. I tried to help him a few months ago, never got a straight answer out of him. I asked him to upload his config files (without server details), he refused.
If you install oscam from plugin server, put config files in correct place, it will work. If you want to use third party ones, use those designed to work with ViX. Enosat has described what is required.
ViX copied the ATV softcams build files and went for a dual control method. Softcam Manager and Softcam script. This is where the problem partly lies. And one of the developers calling the build files config files.
enough said.
Which oscam are you actually talking about? You have mentioned two different ones.
If you are talking about oscam-pcscsd-latest, I have just installed it. As pointed out by another person, there is no script control method for it ( at the moment). You have to use softcam manager to control it. For softcam manager in vix, all variants of oscam must have the oscam config files in /etc/tuxbox/config
For anybody unsure what is meant by oscam configs, they are the following files (as a minimum)
oscam.conf
oscam.dvbapi
oscam.server
oscam.user
If copying/moving them does not work, please install it by command line and start it by command line to show the issue
To install:
opkg install enigma2-plugin-softcams-oscam-pcscd-latest
To run:
cd /usr/softcams/
then
./oscam-pcsc-latest
well, I only know it like this
image dependent
where do you copy the binary in, usually in usr/bin
the start script is important, this is where the path where the configs are located is specified
take a look at my oscam, I think that works too
I’m on abaut oscam. 11718-r798. Can some one have a go to prove me rong
I think you should continue in your own thread.
I tried both OSCAM-latest and OSCAM - pcscd-latest from the VIX 6.6 repository. I am now using pcscd. My error, as I explained in an earlier post, was putting the OSCAM config files in the wrong folder. I put them in the OSCAM folder itself, not the config folder. But they are now in the config folder and working.
Just a question: I am using config files kindly provided by Master G on 27 Sept 2023. Should I be using newer ones and if so, where would I find them?
If those config files work for what you need, continue using them. There will be occasional changes needed, just add the minor changes you are using. As an example, the stream relay option.
latest openvix 6.6.012 and OSCam 2.24.11-11854-802 working fine here.I usely just copy the new oscam in usr/softcam and start with manager. As mentioned take one that is given for openvix

no problem

Thanks. My config file only has "stream_relay_ctab = 098D". I've added the rest.
Another question - apologies I'm a newbie.
Also in the Open ViX 6.6 repository are two other softcams: CCAM 2.3.9 and NCAM (1.20).
Can someone tell me what these are and how to use them? A Google search hasn't helped!
Don't be confused by so many different emulators in softcam. You only need to install one. Choose between oscam or ncam.
It's best to install one of the developers. Oscam pcsc is useful if you use one of the external readers adapted to windows or linux pc (omnikey, smargo). If you don't use it, it's not necessary to install it in the image. I personally wouldn't use oscam or ncam, which are in the feed for download. If you decide to use one of the developers here on the forum, uninstall everything you have now and start all over again. You'll learn.
