  • Please read carefully:

    Please restart E2 and reproduce the error.

    If it crashes, I need that.

    Otherwise, I need the debug log, but I need it immediately after exiting.

    There are still two skin errors, but they are not the cause.

  • I have found that metrixHD runs without errors, so there is an error in GradientFHD, so use metrixHD in the future, it is beautifully made than the old metrixHD

    player is better than the old one

    Dreambox DM920 - PurE2 7.6 - Norlys Tv - Danmark - DVB-T2 :thumbs up:

    :hello 1:

  • but after last you post before recomending metrixhd skin that is not skin shown.

    What normally works if system is ok then flashonline with restore settings. unless major update.

  • it's the same error in skins - as in GradientFHD

    to rule out the same error also occurs in metrixHD have been testing it for a few days

    hope you can find the error

    my Dreambox DM920 is not faulty

    using Terrestrial DVB-T2

    watch video for error

    :hello 1:

  • I watched the video; I think it's the Metrix skin.

    This has nothing to do with skins; it will happen with any skin.

    It definitely won't happen with a Dream Image.

    I already showed you the errors.

    That's the reason—ask an AI if it can explain it.

  • Hi sir,

    I would like to report that since you added softCSA we have a lot of problems :

    - crush on many normal plugins

    - spiner appears everytime making e2 very slow

    I tested on different boxes ,multibox and octagon and same problems

    we are suffering from this csa ,please do something

  • Pardon my ignorance but I see a lot of talk about skins. I'm OK with the default skin, but is there more to skins other than appearance? Do some skins have added functionality?

  • To answer your skin question: it’s a bit of both.

    All skins are built around the core components. Each screen already has a set of predefined elements that can be used within the skin. From there, it’s up to the skinner how much they include—some use everything available, while others stick to just the essentials for a cleaner look.
    The layout of those elements is also entirely down to the skinner.
    Someone with a moveable dish is going to want much more information on their screens and more detailed skin, than someone that mainly watches one satellite or just even just IPTV.

    The Metrix skin, for example, tends to include most elements since it’s OpenATV’s main/default skin.

    Because default elements are limited (and you can’t satisfy everyone with a single setup), many skinners create their own custom elements, because some of the things they want to do, just don't exist in the core elements. So they code their own Python elements to do additional stuff.

    These custom elements are usually specific to the skins they were designed for, as they require particular references in the skin code.

    They can include visual enhancements like movie posters in channel lists, programme cover art in menus, weather widgets, smoother picon scaling, extended now/next info, or richer infobars.

    Pretty much every third-party skin includes some form of custom work—whether it’s completely original or built using elements shared by other skinners.

    Aglare FHD, has a lot of custom elements.

    I assume Gradient FHD does - although I never tried it.

    My own skins - slyk Q 1080, slyk Onyx 1080 and slyk 1080 R19 - all have a lot of custom elements,

    Most custom skins are designed for oe-alliance images, they won't necessary work on openpli or openbh and vice versa, due to different screen naming.

    So for openatv you have quite a large choice of skins available to try and see if it suits your functionality and visual needs better.

  • " using Terrestrial DVB-T2with CI module". Please always say this to stop wild goose chases.

    I don't see the error. Please describe it.

    use pli-hd-full night mod 1.7.7 right now

    this skin just fine from stein17 is from 2023

    don't know what's wrong with the other skins that are failing to play

    use 2 CI+ module for DVB-T2 from norlys tv

    the player has stopped just in the meantime by watching something that has been recorded??_

    ### 1. **`ERROR reading PES`**

    * **What is PES?**

    PES stands for *Packetized Elementary Stream*. These are small data packets used to send video and audio in digital TV (DVB).

    * **The error means:**

    The system is trying to read video/audio data, but something is not working.

    * **“Function not implemented”**

    This means that the function simply does not exist or is not supported in your device or driver.

    * **Example:**

    Imagine a DVD player that is trying to read a certain type of disc, but does not have the functionality to do so → then it fails.

    ---

    ### 2. **`fd=62`**

    * **What is it?**

    “fd” means *file descriptor* – a number the system uses to keep track of open files or streams.

    * **Example:**

    Think of it as a “ticket number” in a queue. Here, the number 62 is the connection that gives an error.

    ---

    ### 3. **`StbHardware`**

    * **What is it?**

    STB = *Set-Top Box* (your TV box).

    So it's about the hardware part of your receiver.

    ---

    ### 4. **`/proc/stb/fp/rtc`**

    * **What is it?**

    A system file that is used to control the clock (RTC = real-time clock) in the box.

    * **Error:**

    *“No such file or directory”* → the file does not exist.

    * **Example:**

    This is equivalent to trying to save a file in a folder that does not exist.

    ---

    ### 5. **`/dev/dbox/fp0`**

    * **What is it?**

    A device file for the front panel (display/buttons) of the box.

    * **Error:**

    The system is trying to write to it, but it doesn't exist.

    * **Example:**

    Like trying to send a signal to a monitor that isn't connected.

    ---

    ### 6. **`setRTCtime failed`**

    * **What is it?**

    The system is trying to set the time on the box.

    * **Error:**

    It fails because the necessary files/devices are not found.

    * **Example:**

    Like setting the clock on a microwave where the buttons don't work.

    ---

    ## Short summary

    * Your box is trying to:

    * read TV data → fails (PES error)

    * update its internal clock → fails (missing files)

    * This typically indicates:

    * missing or incorrect drivers

    * incompatible image (OpenATV version vs. hardware)

    * or that certain hardware features are not available on your model
