  • We are happy to announce the second release (R2) of our plugin!

    What's New?

    1. A new AI Translation Mode has been added. You can now choose the mode that gives the most accurate translation for your target language.
    2. A new sub-language option for Arabic (Iraq) is available.
    3. Improved performance for faster and better syncing.

To get these updates, simply update your device using the usual software update method.

You should now be able to see the new option:

We welcome your feedback and are open to discussions right here on this post!

  • This is awesome for watching channels from foreign countries, that have dvb/teletext subtitles.

The only issue so far for me is, that i wasn't able to use a backup image of one device on the other device (still being in the test phase). So I will reinstall on the second device. I am on the first day of my test now.

Will I be able to use a license even if i upgrade openatv / switch the device?

Upgrade OpenATV is not affecting your license, but if you switched your device you need to send us a message and we will release your code from the old device and you can activate it on your new device.

  • Unfortunately, nothing is free for us mere mortals.

To avail of such a service providing real-time translation in less than 1 second, apart from efforts in developing the solution, the operation itself is costly, you can google how much it will cost you to have dedicated servers and dedicated GPUs that can handle between 500k and 1m requests per day!

So availing it for free is not feasible.

  • I have some questions regarding the ai-powered subtitle translations:

    1. There is a setting regarding the internet connection speed: Which value should I use if my internet connection download speed differs from my upload speed?

    2. During the testing phase I sometimes saw the spinner on my Gigablue Quad Plus, when ai-powered-subtitles were active. After I purchased the key it seems to work much more reliable. Is this a coincidence or is the service with subscription better than the testing phase service?

    3. I miss a feature to have ai-powered-subtitles generally enabled for every language, except for one or maybe multiple explicitly specified languages: So e. g. I might want to see the ordinary subtitles for German and English, but have every other language translated into German. Will such a feature be added in the future?

    4. Have you thought about teaming up with a device manufacturer? Having such a feature readily configured out-of-the-box (except for having to sign up for the subscription) seems like an unique selling point.

  • Point #1: it is a range so that you can consider your upload speed, the plugin will be optimized for this value in syncing, mainly, you can evaluate all value,s and the one you feel it is closer to the audio, keep it, note that you need to restart the GUI to get affected.

Point#2: Both test and commercial keys are using the same server, it might happen due to the network at that time only.

Point#3: There is a feature already implemented to exclude specific channels as some of them are already providing translation for your preferred language from the feed, click on the menu while you are on the channels list, you can see an option "Don't Translate Subs On This Service"

Point#4: We are open to working with device manufacturers, it is up to them :)

It is cool this feature is already there :-)

Unfortunately i encounter an issue trying to use it:

I have ai-powered translated subtitles enabled to translate everything into German. Then I mark a channel (for example BBC two) not to be translated.

When switching to that channel the ai-powered translation stops and instead the ordinary subtitles are shown. This is the behaviour i expect. But when i switch to any other channel afterwards the translations don't come back until a GUI restart.

I am using OpenATV 7.5.1.20250302 (2025-03-01) on a Gigablue Quad Plus.

    Can you reproduce this behaviour?

  • Thanks for your feedback, and yes I managed to re-produce it on my end and will be fixed soon.

  • Hello I have this problem with openatv 7.6

    Is there a solution?

Did you restore an image on a different box?

Are you on the free test phase or did you purchase a code?

In case you purchased a code: Did it work before the update and stopped working after the update?

No restored image I flash new image and this happen after update the image

It is a purchased code and it worked before the update

  • Send me you code and mac in a private message, I will check the server logs.
