  • Hi all,

I'm currently in the market for a new Enigma2 receiver and I've narrowed it down to two options: the Vu+ Duo 4K SE and the GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro. Currently have the Zgemma H7 and Octogon Sf8008, both solid boxes but I really would like a good solid better build box in the main room of the house.

I've always been a fan of Vu+ boxes — their build quality and long-term support have never let me down. The Duo 4K SE looks like another solid device with a fast quad-core CPU, 3GB RAM, and the FBC tuner which gives you tons of flexibility with just one feed. It also has HDMI-in, which is a bonus for my setup, and of course, excellent compatibility with VTi and OpenViX images (which I'm currently using), my only issue is the age of the box which from what i understand has been out for a while.

On the other hand, the GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro has caught my attention. It's newer and offers some interesting features, particularly SAT>IP which I haven't used before but seems promising for sharing tuners across the home network. It also supports up to 4 modular tuners and seems wel built.

So I’m torn — do I go with the tried-and-tested Vu+ or give GigaBlue a shot?

If anyone here has experience with either box, especially in terms of:

Stability with IPTV and large bouquets

    Plugin compatibility

    Image support and updates

    SAT>IP performance (on GigaBlue)

    General reliability and future-proofing

    I’d really appreciate your thoughts!

    Thanks in advance 👍

  • The Vu+ apparently is not made any longer or vu+ are not making receivers for the end user market. The vu+ does look very fast though.

Gigablue is a decent box and pretty stable, its no faster than my qviart dual at channel zapping. There is also an issue of the gigablue additional sat tuner not being available to buy at the moment. I've installed extreamity iptv on my box and it seems to handle it well although i don't know how to search the vod.

  • vu+ 4K duo 2 is again available (new batch for belgium and netherlands) .Just bought one 2 weeks ago and super machine with 4 tuners X and one usb cable tuner (openvix image) and 2 TB HDD.Is pretty expensive but so is the gigableu

  • just bought GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro

its dream machine you do not feel outdated

paying big money for a brand new machine year of production 24/25

Given that you own a DM TWO and a GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro, in comparative terms, which do you prefer? Why?

    Cheers

  • too early to judge

    DreamboxTwo

    Gigablue Quad 4K Pro

  • In speed terms the dreambox 2 is supposed to be much faster with 53000 dmips against 12000 dmips against gigablue quad. How that works in real terms only those who have the box will tell.

Not sure you informed you of that as VU+ are still manufacturing the current models. We're actually awaiting new manufactured stock of the VU+ Duo 4K SE.

Even our recent shipment of VU+ Uno 4K SE have new style packing.

You don't need SAT-IP to share tuners from your main receiver. You can easily share tuners from a VU+ Duo 4K SE to your other boxes without SAT-IP.

If i have the wrong information I will hold my hands up. I was told that vu+ had stopped making for the domestic market and were concentrating on the commericial market only. I am happy for everyone that VU+ and still manufacturing, and indeed i really like the look of the Vu+ duo 4k se. Wish i had one :)

cool to hear that :smiling face: hope to cut down / re design the case since it is bulky design which does not fit in current world

    DreamboxTwo

    Gigablue Quad 4K Pro

  • they produce on demand and per pallet (think 48 pieces) . Several dutch shops did a command together that's why I got a box 3 weeks ago with everything i needed on board

VU+ manufacture far more than 48 units per batch.
