SF8008m Stuck booting to recovery menu

    I've had an SF8008 Mini for about 5 years now and have had occasional issues after power failures with the unit getting stuck booting to the recovery menu.


    For the past year or so the fix has been to just boot to DefineOS first then boot to my preferred OS and I'd been mainly using OpenATV. It seemed to work but it did not seem like what I should have needed to do.


    However recently I haven't been able to do that at all. I have reflashed, tried different disributions and images, USB/network etc, different USB sticks etc and all the box will do is boot to the recovery menu.


    I suspect I have the increasingly common issue with the front panel/ET6226M IC as mentioned in other threads like this one but cannot really confirm. I opened up the box and unlike the bigger version, I cannot unplug the front panel to see if it will boot because this IC and the front panel are on the single main PCB. I'd try to flash with HiTools etc but I don't have the right cable and don't really want to buy one when it doesn't seem likely this is going to fix it.


    Open to other suggestions or things to try, although I have limited tools... I am tempted to try to unsolder pin 10 as suggested elsewhere although given the board and my tools I'm not sure if I will be able to do this successfully and do not really want to kill the box further if I can at least get a little money for parts...

    Try this:


    When you get the box to "NECO" with the flashdrive inserted, press "up arrow" then press "OK" twice on your remote control.


    If it worked you will see the display count to 100 twice. (keep in mind that it will count like crazy becuase the unit is loading and flashing)


    After the second time it should say "SUCC", change to boot, and startup into the setup screen.

    Sorry I think I misexplained in my initial post.


    All my box will do is boot straight to the recovery menu. It won't boot into an image and tried installing different ones, including flashing recovery.

    not a reflash problem.. box goes to recovery alone.. like if i press the buttom when boot.. only if i unplug the front board, it start normally. But no remote control and front panel off.., i tested board button connect, button is OK..

    Yeah, thats my point too. Italien is not a problem to me.. but your guide for begginers, maybe not have electronic schemmas 😅😅

    i tested with multimeter somo components, but not find what is burned..
