cant ftp to my vu+duo after install of new vix 3.02.04,name password maybe?

Can someone shed any light on this for me
I cant ftp to the box now,i use filezilla but cant conect
might be name and password unknown to me
I have image vix 3.02.04,which works great,there is a lot on it which
I dont understand yet but im trying
just comes back with 500 OOPS: cannot locate user entry:vsftpd

What username and password are you trying ?

The default FTP login details are;

User name: root
password: none set = left blank until you set one your self.

password : leave this space blank until you are ready to cahnge the password for personal security

I did try that but still says
Connecting to 192.168.1.4:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 500 OOPS: cannot locate user entry:vsftpd
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server
might be me doing something wrong

Try telneting to the duo with putty

Type in the duo`s ip address

Then type root

Then type passwd ( not password )

You will be prompted to enter a new password, do so ( no text will show ) then press enter

You will then be prompted to repeat, do so as above

This should sort out your problem

take it you checked to see what IP address the receiver is assigned to? - after reflashng you may find that this changes. Also - can you confirm whether you tried to install backup settings from your previous install? - Quick search tells me that if you have, then you could have broken the FTP protocol, and you will have to start again.

you cannot use previous settings on the new image... it says so on the pack !!

I did restore the channels list
thats the problem
I thought it would be ok for the channels list
DOH!
Ill just re-install and start again
like we all say a wee bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing

I thought with the image working perfectly ok other wise it would be ok
It does work ok,the only thing I cant do is to ftp to it
It even restored my line ok
I should have read it all silly boy

Re-install image with no restore at all
all working now.
can ftp with no problems
