im not sure what section to discuss this so ill put it here. what basic boxes would people recommend, ive heard the eagle 800 are a nightmare and as sharp as the dm500 is its being left behind not having hd. would anybody recommend a ***box f3?

i had a cpl of the f3s and would still have them if i hadnt upgraded to vu duo .for £50 you got a half decent box crisp clear pictures channel list was a bit of a arse
but for a bedroom box you cant beat it in my opinion -
Personally i would spend a little more for a box that can run enigma2 but agree with tebaa that it probably is well worth the money, would also say that the new ferguson ariva & amiko mini that sat-shop is offering at the moment look very tempting in that price range & is possibly a better option in that budget range.

I'm def getting a vu duo for the living room just waiting for payday would u say they are the best on the market for price/performance?
Also I haven't read much about people on here using the recording function like sly+? I use mine all the time for set reminders when I'm not in, hopefully the vu duo is capable of sly+ capabilities but it hasn't sounded too promising so far, what about u guys do u all record much? -
i have a 500gb harddrive in mine and all setup for recording it is different but its all there
my kids have it sussed it now .i think its pretty good for price to performance .plus if you get it from
sat-shop you save in postage as long as your in england -
1TB in mine and its always recording! Be it Kids Programs....My Conspiracy Stuff.....or the Mrs Crazy Stuff it all works well!
I use Vix and just like anything you Just need to get used to how it all works and spend a little bit more time setting up as opposed to (green button series link)
Ensure the EPG is up to date and you should have no problems!
Vix is all Menu based with filters so say for example you wanted to record Eastenders
Highlight in Epg > Hit Autotimer Button
Then Filter the parameters for example
Eastenders
On BBC1 Only
Between 19:00 - 19:30
Daily
So depending on what you select it will record every instance....it will tell you at the end how many results and you can view in the record list!
Go bigger on HDD if your like me and end up recording every instance (inc repeats lol)
Im sure you will pick it up any problems ask my Mrs lol

Neither, pay the extra and get the Ferguson 102e from us which does all they do plus YouTube and YouPorn support or better still the Amiko Mini HD which has all that plus is a true mini size, silent operation, IR remote eye and 2 year guarantee.
Plus it is not being purchased off some anonymous bedroom seller on eBay who is not likely to be here in a few weeks time or someone quoting a rear office address of the family fruit and veg shop (I kid you not!). If you purchase from us then you are purchasing from a dedicated business who do this as a full time job, have office, warehouse and shop, dedicated people to answer a phone and provide a VAT receipt - in short even on a cheap HD receiver don't make the mistake of buying on price alone, where you purchase is just as and in some cases more important.
