  • hey guys, just wondering if this is possible, i belive it is if you use dreambox? but i am using unbuntu server w/ oscam only.

my box in the bedroom is playing up again, and thought i would see if its possible to stream via laptop?

  • Of course you need to stream from your dreambox - the server is just providing the decryption to your network in which the receivers are on. Regardless of if the server is running on a PC or the Dreambox, streaming from the dreambox should work.

If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....

  • Yep using Vlc player (windows media player a bit bit or miss) and logging into webif from your lappy Will allow you to stream!

Using your Box Ip Address > type into Internet browser > select bouquet > select channel > to the left of channel listing should be a computer screen icon > click that and stream should download (depending on settings it will auto open or you may have to open with VLC) > stream should now play

I wouldn't see any benefit of passing the stream through VLC on an internal network. I would only use VLC if you are needing to reduce the bandwidth for external streaming.

I mean using VLC to encode the stream, of course VLC is good to use to view the stream on the client!
