  • Hi all,
I just started this thread so we can discuss fringe satellite reception
Am located in Accra Ghana West Africa and am picking up S*K*Y UK with my 2.4 solid pan dish(Eurostar)ground mount
with a Eurovision Prime focus lnb(0.2db)
Signal is very stable in the mornings but fades in the afternoon to sunset and very strong at night
this are the tps am able to pick up from here

    Code
    11.779(V)
    11.857(V)
    11.935(V)
    12.013(V)
    12.526(V)
    11.759(H)
    11.837(H)
    11.915(H)
    11.993(H)

Any one getting fringe reception from his location can also share his setup here
    thanks

  • hi there,
i live in the north part of your world, that is to say Tamale and to ask u which degree is this bird u are talking about.
I have a ten foot solid dish band invacom quatro lnb and so far i have been able to nail down Hispansat 1D C E at 30degree west and iam trying all i can to get nilesat at 7 degree west.any advice from u.

  • hi mate,
Happy to hear we are in the same hood,I guess with your 3.0M you should be able to track more satelliets at your end, more so you are closer to *** than Im.Because you are at the northern part of the country
To track s*ky uk at 28e,the same position with multi tv,try and get multitv at 98%,then blind scan your decoder and *** will pop up
what tp are you using to hit hispasat, pls post it here
to get nilesat track ab7 at 7w,10992V 27500 make sure you get 98% and nilesat will pop up
    thanks

  • hi m8
check flysat.com and go to hispasat 1DCE and have all the transponder of 1E beam and 1C transponder which is 12092v 27500 is also a high signal freq, about 61%.many of the channels are scramble and it is canal+ and zon package of which it is nagravion3 and here hoping they will be hacked.it use to work when it was seca and changing to nagravion3 made it go off, cross fingers and waiting.the 10992v 27500 is being recorded here what i mean is that i use to track this bird with over 600channels but there was an update to this satellite that made me lost all tis channel except the aljazerra and the algeria channels.but going there for the channels means u get a good lnb of 0.03db becoz mine is invacom quatro lnb.

  • Hi King am located in Tema would loved to get in touch have been tracking *** uk without success. Can get multitv 97% nothing more any ideas.have 2.4m eurostar polar mount with eurovision lnb.

  • hi mate,
very happy to hear you are around
i think your dish needs a little tweaking to get very well aligned on the clack belt arc
just do a little optimization on the dish...if I may ask do you get any fringe reception?
the easiest one is zap angola Zap on Eutelsat 36B at 35.9°E - LyngSat,there is no FTA but at least it tells
you u have a hand on fringe reception
you can try that and lets see the output of your dish......

  • Hi on 36B I can only get 11221 which is not stable. On the other sats I have been able to track 12 tps on Hotbird 13C & 13D nothing yet on 201 & 102 at 7 west.I have always suspected that my setup needs a bit of adjustment to be properly aligned to the Clarke belt.I will work on it and see what comes up. Have u had any luck with Nilesat or Badr in Accra?

  • King the TPs working for me are as follows 10992V, 10892H, 10872V fairly stable 50-52% sig quality while the ff are are also receiveable 10949V, 11034V, 11179H, 10930H, 11117V, 10776H, 11137H, 11075V,10796V,11240V & 10853H. Wish u the best. Using *** UK tp's u posted I was able to get hit 40% green on 11778H but signal was not stable seems I have work on the alignment on my dish a little bit.
Which of the *** tp's u posted are stable

  • hi all
i managed to pick h*tbird @13e here In Ghana using my 2.4M solid Prime focus Eurostar dish with my modified Lnb...
these are the tps I managed to get

How to track Hotbird in West Africa
    first track Eutelsat 16A @ 16e
    2a0a785e6.jpg

which can be tracked with a minimum of 60cm in south saharan africa....

    4a56ceed226ecee8afc0.jpg

pls make sure you hit the highest signal @ 98% on the famous SRT Strong reciever which is common here in sub-saharan africa, tweaking lnb also is very vital here....then you can track hotbird with the frequency

    Quote

    11138 H 27500 @ 68% on my 2.4M

    309140a50db.jpg

with the reb ballon indicating my location....
I must confess that my modified LNB has also been a vital signal boaster....increasing 6% signal compared to normal LNBs on the market
will update the house soon on my modified LNB which works better than most of this known brands in Europe
    Always remember.....Never Say never

how have you done the modification of lnb? what about stargold fuji lnb?

  • Hi mates,
This is one of the ways to increase signal on prime focus dishes, especially those on fringe reception

Tried it personaly and works well

just get a cband scalar ring and position it in such a way that the feedhorn of your primefocus lnb sits in the cband scalar ring so that the rings align

I have pictures to explain everything

  • Hi guys,

Am going to explain explicitly how one can track hispasat in west Africa region

I must be sincere to say this,to get good channels from hispasat one should get a bigger dish with a minimum of 3.0M Dish (10 feet)

There are two satellite hosting the hispasat package <<Hispasat 1D/1E>>

Hispasat 1E from the footprint looks so close to us here in west Africa yet so far, whereas 1D seems so far but little closer to us

This experiment was carried out on a Eurostar 2.4M(8feet) Prime Focus Solid dish with modified Fuji lnb

Receiver/Decoder used was strong decoder SRT 4669Z and channels later scanned on 4922A MODEL to obtain the tps posted in this tut

Those on motorized setup have no problem than to aligh their dishes accurately and just input the right tp.

    >> ID and 1E beams respectively <<

    e52008267c8c11e565884.jpg

To track hispasat 1D,one has to be focused, patient, and really determined since it’s a fringe reception and requires little experience and accuracy.

First and formost,we need to track a satellite closest to hispasat, and the best is intelsat 25@ 31.5w

    >> intelsat 25W @ 31.5W <<

    >>here is footprint of intelsat 25@ 31.5w

    d251a.jpg

It has two tps for west African beam

    39ca3b64dfcd8cae8f8.jpg

    Code
    12341 V 2120
    12344 V 2120

Track this satellite and make sure you have maximum frequencies>>full bar @ 4oclock lnb position

Then input any tp from hispasat 1D preferably 12594 H 4444 a feed with very high frequency, better still you can use 12380 V 27500

    cf8e8f00bfe2d7.jpg

By just lowering the dish and moving to your left in millimeters, and you might hit green with little patience.
    >>these are the tps I was able to pick up

    Code
    12226 V 27500 57%
    12303 V 27500 55%
    12380 V 27500 60%
    12594 H 04444 70%

However one tp was picked up from 1E satellite

    Code
    10891 V 27500 58%

    >>some pix of hispasat…sorry about the poor image quality

  • Hi kingj

    10720 V 27500
    10796 V 27500
    10873 V 27500
    10950 V 27500
    10992 V 27500
    11034 V 27500
    11075 V 27500
    11117 V 27500
    11159 V 27500
    11200 V 27500
    11240 V 27500
    10775 H 29899
    10815 H 27500
    10892 H 27500
    11055 H 27500
    11096 H 29899
    11138 H 27500
    11179 H 27500
    11220 H 29899
this freq you gave is for Eutelsat 8c at 7 degrees west formal known as nilesat i can also get it here also in ghana north to be presides iam on ten feet solid with an invacom quetro lnb.The hispansat is also visiable with about five hundred + but mostly scrambled, but talking about hotbird thats imposible or u can throw more light on that?until then bye for now.

  • Hi guys,
Here once again to update peeps on improving and getting the best out of fringe satellite reception, to get the best out of fringe reception it’s important we consider these things
    >> Little patience
    >> Experience (very important) you need to confirm if anybody had been able to track that sat in your hood
    >> Sensitive tuner
    >> Very good lnb

    Sensive Tuner
When it comes to tuner sensitivity, those of us in Africa will no doubt go for the strong receivers
However, the technomate series of receivers have one of the best tuners (I stand to be corrected), because fringe satellite tracking is elusive, you need very sensitive tuner to augment your efforts
I will recommend these two technomate receivers

    Technomate TM-5402 HD M3 Mk3 Super+ CI ETHERNET

    c4c92121002585.jpg

    TM-5402-HD-m2

    9f824911e9d733601a35920.jpg

The m3 is a newer version to the m2, but the tuner of the m2 is a little more sensitive than the m3

    LNB
One of the best lnb for now tested by most sat enthusiast is the
Twin LNB MTI High Line quality LNB 0.2dB powerful (stand to be corrected)

    0a02eecf33c9dcc6e6b84cde.jpg

How to modify the mti for best performance (increase 3-5% signal)
This is because in fringe reception, even +1 signal increase is important, things are not taken for granted >>
You need to cut the opening of the lnb to serve as a scalar ring

    38edec58ee6483f.jpg

You need to cut the white part leaving the cream casing, please refer to the original pix
    Thanks and happy tracking
