  • Hi I have the Alein 2 and I have tried a fair few images,
But I have been hit with the same problem mentioned a fair few times juddering HD picture.
I believe this is due to the processor not being a mips.

my question is does anyone have an enigma 2 image working with HD channels and no juddering?

If not can anyone recommend the best Dual Tuner Satellite box with a mips processor for around £250-300?

    Thanks In advance:59:

  • No comment on the Alien 2 as my thoughts on this box are well known.

I can recommend the Technomate TM-2T which you can get off the sponsor for £214 with the £5 off voucher you can get by sending a PM to them, (See World of Satellite section on the forum).

Another box worth looking at is the Venton HD1 with twin DVB-S2 tuners, which with your voucher will come in at £184. The Venton HD2 and HD3 boxes are also worth looking at, as well as the old favorite the Vu+ Duo. I have no experience myself regarding the Venton boxes but people i have spoken to highly rate them.

  • I've been happy with both of my Gigablue boxes if i'm totally honest, neither one has given me any grief at all. I haven't used a GB Quad myself, but i see no reason why they shouldn't perform as well as my 800Se and 800 Solo have.

  • There is a temp fix for the juddering providing your tv can withstand 1080p/25hz.
If you are using the April 2013 Satstation image, you download a new plugin called Autoresolution.
You can then change to 1080p/25hz on your box & it helps. No juddering, but it's not 100% perfect, but is watchable.

Autoresolution is not a new plugin, its been around for years.

I have used PKT Hyperion and the new HDMU images and haven't noticed any juddering on HD channels .
The picture looks fine to me.
Scalar sharpness is a bit high on the Hdmu image but thats only a small issue .

I'd stay away from any of the Satstation images ,I tried them out and they were very poor ,box was completely unresponsive .

  • I find it quite funny that the Satstation image is made by the main retailer in the UK and its the worst image out of all of them :10lol:

Hardly a good advertisement is it

Yeah their images are very poor.
They hardly ever update the code either to fix bugs,HDMU bring out an update every few days and PKT have updates too .

There is decent support for the receiver on the continent ,especially Germany and Poland where the Triplex is popular.
Pkt are due to release the Hyperion 2 image in the next week or two so that could be a big development.
I honestly think the receiver could be just as good as a Vu Duo with the correct software developers.

  • Po eshte e vertete se imazhet HDMu per box alien2 dhe box golden media triplex jane shume te varfer, une kam blere te dy keta aparate dhe sinqerisht jane leke te hedhura dem deri me sot, une kerkoj mbeshtetje nga specialistet e kesaj fushe se nuk eshte aspak serioze nga ana e ketyre prodhuesve te ketyre box e te mos kene suport te mjaftueshem, une kam shprese se nje dite paret e hedhura per keta aparate do te vlejne, jam mjaft i merzitur por me shprese, ju pershendes anetare te Forumit kudo ku punoni e jetoni.

Yes it is true that images HDMu for alien2 box and golden box triplex media are very poor, I have bought both these handsets and frankly are ALL cast bull to date, I ask support from specialists in this field that is not serious by the same producers of these box not have sufficient support, I hope that one day I cast money for these devices will take effect, but I'm pretty bored with hope, greet you wherever Forum member's work live.

Nah, I can't see that ever happening.

The chipset is just too unreliable to ever be considered anywhere near as good as the Solo never mind the Duo. The chipset they chose for that box is in my opinion the main thing holding that box back. The Chipset they use in the SHD-8900 is a much more reliable chipset which is less prone to throwing hissy fits than the one in use in the Alien2.

To be honest unless they start from scratch and write the image from scratch to work solely with the SH4 chipset i can't ever see this box being anywhere near as good as a MIPS based equivalent.

Sezoni17 I appreciate that Englsih is not your native language but if you write in your own language most people here won't understand what you are saying. If you can run it through Google translate aswell it would be appreciated.

nano, many thanks for the reply, I understand that written language is to prevent rather, should you have your advice in mind, you greet and pass well.

  • Please please help tried 6 images off Satstation all with jumping HD problems could somebody please put a link for me so I can get a decent Enigma 2 image, my box is the SHD8900 Thanks

  • They will all have this jumping as its a sh4 problem, dont think it will be fixed soon.

    Try this to help it.

This fix will only work on TVs that accept 1080p 25 hertz

had this running now on my alien2 all afternoon and no noticeable judder.

The problem i had was by setting the output to 1080p 25hertz the sd channels were crap so the autoresolution plugin fixes that

i know this doesnt help those with tvs that cant accept the above res but things hopefully are being sorted out

anyway extract the zip file and ftp autoresolution to usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins

    then reboot box

    goto menu/setup/system/av settings

in there change box settings to 1080p and refresh rate to 25hz click green ok

    next goto autoresolution

    click enable autoresolution to yes

    then 1080i content to 1080p

    the rest change to 1080i

show info on screen to yes (not needed but it shows you when res is changed)

deinterlacer mode to on (have tried all options)

    then green btn to save
