  • winSCp uses SSH thats why it use port 22 cause 22 standard runs on that port, no idea if you can get it t work over a ftp port also "21? But i dont think so.

But why cant you just use it over port 22 ? :)

  • As soon as I select FTP it automatically changes to port 21.

When I log into the server from winscp I am using my standard login details for the server.

How do I login as root?

  • I'm getting this error when trying tro transfer files

General failure (server should provide error description).
    Error code: 4
    Error message from server: Failure

  • I've now got logged into winscp as root but when I try to move the oscam file from /opt/simplebuild/archiv to /usr/local/bin/

    I keep getting this message

General failure (server should provide error description).
    Error code: 4
    Error message from server: Failure

  • not seen this error before

however are u sure /usr/local/bin/ has write priv on?

also are you logging in as user and root owns folder?

is there enough space on hdd that you are sending to?

if none of above indicates a problem you could try a different version of winscp

  • My first problem was that I wasn’t logged in as root with winscp

after that I transferred the binary file to my documents then sent it to /usr/local/bin which seemed to do the trick

    Omnikey is also working 100%

its my first time using debian and linux and I'm really impressed

Its a great hobby to keep the brain active :)
