Vu+ Solo2 not playing at all

Can any one help please.

Got this box from Amazon for my dad, had it 3 days and unfortunately he went into the menu system and has pressed every possible button combination you can think of and then switched it off because it did not work. I have been on the Vu+ site and downloaded "vuplus-image-vusolo2-20140421165610_usb" onto a FAT32 formatted USB stick, applied the stick to the USB port and powered up, it appears to load the files and start setting things up when I reboot but hangs on the VU+ logo screen.

Is it possible to wipe the whole thing and start again? I know very little of Linux having been a lecturer in computing which has always been Microsoft based until just before I retired.

Any help at this time would be gratefully received even if the end result is turn it into an ashtray.

How to USB flash upgrade VU+ Solo2

1) Prepare a USB stick, format FAT32. I'd recommend using this HP Format tool.
2) Download the image you would like to use, extract the vuplus folder.
3) Copy the vuplus folder to root of your USB stick.
4) Connect to VU+ Solo2.
5) Power on, when prompted on front display to press power button, touch the BLUE cirlces to the left of the front panel. This is the touch sensitive power button.
6) Wait for the flashing process to complete and automatically reboot. DO NOT POWER OFF DURING THE FLASHING PROCESS!

Once you copy the vuplus folder to USB stick as in step 3, you should see the vuplus folder when accessing the root of the USB stick. Folder structure should be vuplus > solo2 > flash files.

I'd also recommend installing Teracopy, although not essential, to your PC to copy files from PC to USB stick, less chance of corrupting flash files.

is this a genuine solo2 or clone because i know there's a anti clone measure thats bricking solo2

I would have my doubts with that thought buddy every chance its a clone the place is full of them everywhere

My solo2 is from amazon and it´s a original box. I can´t see amazon selling clone stuff. By the way, my solo2 is running fine, no problems.
