It is possible to have 3 days UK epg on a DM500 without network mount by storing the data in tmp. Many people including myself believed there simply wasnt enough free space but i have tested this and it is working 100% and performance is not affected in any way, infact it works better than a mounted epg file.Below i will explain with screenshots how to do it.

First you need to select tmp as the storage area, using the remote menu go to system settings.

    Select EPG

Select SQLite as epg data store, you will see a warning ( THIS DIRECTORY HAS NOT GOT ENOUGH SPACE ) just ignore it.

And browse to tmp for location then press green to select.

Now exit the settings menu and press yellow to bring up the plugins menu, select Dreambox EPG Config.

Select the following as in the picture,
    Package - Radio Times UK
    Time Offset - 0 Hours
    Number Of Days - 3

Now press blue and you will see the channel mapping screen, here you just need to match the channels from your bouquet in the left and right boxes, this is a pain but only has to be done once. When done press green to save.

You will now be back at the EPG config screen, press yellow and you will see the epg data being retrieved. This takes 10-15 mins but once done you will now have full working 3 day epg without the need for a mounted drive.

The only downside to storing the data in /tmp is when the box is rebooted all data is deleted, how ever this can be overcome if you ftp into your box and find the tmp folder.

Look for the EPG.DB file and copy it so should you have to reboot then you only need to ftp the file back into /tmp.

Before trying to update the guide via Radiotimes check this link HERE if you see a single line like this "In accessing this XML feed, you agree that you will only access its contents for your own personal and non-commercial use and" then it is off line and dont bother. If it is online you will see a full epg database page and then you can retrieve it via your DM500.

  • When i select the 'tmp/' folder it comes out as '/'. I have tried that and saved it but than the box just goes to black screen and when i load up system setting again the default settings are back.

Can see where youre going wrong guys,

when your at this screen go to temp and press ok

    Now press green to select

and it will save as /tmp, all you were missing is pressing ok after you nav to tmp.

  • That's fixed it, but when i press the yellow button to bring up the plugins menu i only have 2 options; DB-swich and Sample PPanel (tutorial).

Im guessing you dont have the sqlite import plugin installed, follow these pics and try again.

  • I had this working a few days ago but now experiencing problems when retreiving epg via yello button. When trying to retrieve epg after box reboot - the window flashes for a while but when i exit out of the menu - epg data has not been loaded - please help - thanks.

Hi mate yes you need to retrieved every 3 days but it only takes 10 mins, it does not use any of your var space as all info is stored in tmp. I did make an epg using the rss reader but due to royalty issues could not find a working rss feed for the itv channels. There is a new epg just been released for the commando image, i have not used it myself but the feedback i have seen on it is very good.

  • It needs the sqlite plugin to work, i am not sure is this is available on Nemesis, look in the Nemesis downloads panel.

No you are correct Ten it's not there for Nemesis, what Image were them photo's taken from?

  • Hi,
First let me say a big thanks to the image.
    All is fine except this...

"Now press blue and you will see the channel mapping screen, here you just need to match the channels from your bouquet in the left and right boxes, this is a pain but only has to be done once. When done press green to save."

I am trying to add the asian channels but seem to mhave no luck

on the channels page there are two colums . if i click/select a channel on the left such as zee tv the cursor goes to the right colum which allows me to than either select ignore, unknown or godown to the list of all the other channels.. I asume these are allready mapped. i go to the top channel and press ok on the remote.. This seams to take the channel(zee tv) from the left and put it on the right pannel
I save this and press retrieve button.... When this finished i press save, exit out of all the menues...

The channels you have mapped are great but the asians do not have any epg......
    what am i doing wrong

Select the channel you wish to map and press ok, the cursor will move to the right panel.

When you find the channel to map it to press ok & you will see the entry dissapear fron the left window. Blue shows what you have mapped, remember to save before retrieving. I have just restored the images to post #1 of this thread, this may help also.
