800HD PVR Wont start at all after flashing failure

    Hi.


    I recently bought a 800HD PVR.
    I could connect to it via FTP.
    But I wanted to upgrade it.


    So I searched for a few hours and found a recommended bootloader
    I flashed it via HTTP with no problems.
    But when I started it up later, I had the NO CA error.
    Well, no problems there. But i learned that I had bought a clone...


    I then searched some more and found that this setup would work;
    sim201_ssl84a
    OpenPli-3.0-hdglass16-8.55-DM800-SIM2-SSL84D-26.10.2014-Houara


    So I connected the box with both the rs232 and LAN cable.
    No problems there eather.
    Box connected. Said it was a DM800 down the corner in Dreamup.


    I then flashed the bootloader.
    And I also flashed the PLI image through Dreamup.


    But after 99% of installation I got a error message.
    "Error - box will be useless now"


    Didnt thought much more of that. But I discoennected the box.
    And now it is impossible to connect to it.
    I have tried every single program to connect to it, but nothing.


    When i put in the power cable the ethernet connector lights up.
    But it is impossible to start it.


    I have disconnected the tuner.
    I have removed the SIM.



    How do I fix this box?

    Unfortunantly the box dont start. So I cant connect to it via LAN.


    When i insert power cable absolutely nothing happens.

    I think I have tried it all now.
    Nothing seems to work.


    The box doesn't start.
    So not any program can connect to it..


    How the hell do i solve this?

    Should i buy one even when the LAN-lights lit with the one I have now?

    Well, I ordered one now anyway.
    Will see if that will get it going.

    google "dreambox toolbox" in there theres a no ca error fix, used it my self a couple of times, don't for get to load the driver for it first though or it won't work, if you have problems downloading it pm me and ill link you to my dropbox

    you will have to have a null modem cable to do it though, about a fiver off eBay and about 20 quid in marlins as i couldn't wait lol

    Try using an old version of Dreamup, preferably the first one that could connect to the DM800HD. If i recall correctly the later ones wouldn't work with Clone boxes.


    Use a null modem RS232 cable connected to a PC with a COM port. Do not use one of those USB to Serial converters as they are notoriously unreliable.


    Find a suitable image, connect the DM to the nullmodem cable and then to the PC.


    Start Dreamup, select image and press ok. Switch the receiver on, it should detect the box and reflash the image to it.


    If it doesn't detect the box there stands a good chance that the bootloader has been corrupted. If thats the case the only way to recover the box is by jtagging which is a long winded process and is not guaranteed to work.


    Unfortunately the DM800HD is not a box i have ever had to jtag so i don't know the procedure for that receiver,although i would hink there will be someone on this ofrum that could walk you through it if thats the case.

    I got a bit confused now.


    I found an old PSU.
    So I tried it out.
    The box booted up.
    I missed pressing the button to come to the DHCP meny.
    But it booted all the way.


    But when i turned it off, I cant get it going again.


    And dont tell me to put in and out the cable fast, cause i have done that like 10k times.

    let him rest for a couple of hours and try again if again doesnt work please tell us what is showing on display , if shows no ca found use ncf sim

    That does not help.
    I have waited several hours.


    The only thing that happens is that the screen flickers for 1sek.


    Then completely black.



    So no "no ca error"
    If it would have been that I would have fixed it easyly

    I actually got i started right now.
    I managed to get ssl 84A installed.
    But after that it had to reeboot.


    And now it is the same.
    The screen is pitch black. And i can not connect to it.

    How many amp is the psu you are using? Is it at least 1.5amp?


    That really sounds like a hardware problem, most likely the PSU not giving out enough amperage to start the box. If its a clone box they are renown to get shipped out with crappy PSUs.


    I would wait until the new PSU arrives and then try it again. Does the box have a HDD installed? Try disconnecting that, it may give the PSU a chance to actually fire the box back up whilst waiting for the new psu.

    Thanks for answer.


    The PSU that came with the box was 3amp.
    But when its connected I hear a very high pitch tone from it.



    I tried another psu that I had for a ext hdd.
    Its 2.0 amp. But nothing happens.



    No int hdd connected. And I have removed thé tuner.
    But nothing.

    Keep the tuner connected, make sure voltage is the same on the replacement PSU as the original and make sure the polarity is the same on the output, i.e is the + inside or outside o the connector.

    Hi just a thought how are you connecting the screen via DVI or Scart cos I had a problem where my dm800pvr would boot up on the scart and if the DVI was connected I couldnt see what was going on I use to have both connected and flick between the inputs. might be talking s''#t but it happened to me cheers john

    not to my knowledge & iv been using ssl84d images for a longtime now m8
    ive found to ensure your receiver has ssl84b bootloader, before upgrading it to ssl84d or the tuner wont be recognised


    when you receive the new PSU
    try this satdreamGR toolbox ive added
    everything you`ll need to fix those Dm problems

    The new PSu arrived today.
    But no difference.


    The screen shows something for 1second.
    But then shuts of.



    The weird thing is that I have managed to start it 2times.
    But when restarted - it is the same.
