oscam server help

Hi im using a pc server trying to setup oscam, Ive installed ubuntu14.04 lts, but trying to log in with a pc windows using filezilla putty winscp putting in ip address on host and username root passwd all correct but not getting a connection. keep saying fail. also i would be greatful if some saint out there could spend a little time maybe starting from scratch helping me. just want to get this headache sorted once and for all

Hi thanks for your help. can i ask please do i need to assign static ip address via terminal or router or do i need a dyndns account please. also in cccam there are ports im abit lost where these port have to be used on the router also. i have a dm7020 cccam setup all ok but now trying to setup using ubuntu with oscam cccam can i use the dyndns account or static ip? sorry if im not making sence ive been reading all day for hrs and getting nowhere.
