  • Hi, I'm trying to get smargo readers to work but under debian I don't have /dev/ttyUSBx devices.

    This is my lsusb output:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC
    Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB
    Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

When I plugin USB hub in dmesg I get this:

usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    hub 1-1:1.0: USB hub found
    hub 1-1:1.0: 4 ports detected
usb 1-1.1: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8
usb 1-1.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usb 1-1.2: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 9
usb 1-1.2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usb 1-1.3: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 10
usb 1-1.3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usb 1-1.4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11
usb 1-1.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    hub 1-1.4:1.0: USB hub found
    hub 1-1.4:1.0: 4 ports detected

So my question is how to make /dev/ttyUSB0

  • Can somebody please help me with this? On my mbo i don't have serial port and it would be great if I could fix this without recompiling kernel.

    Thanks

EDIT: I found the solution in debina module "ftdi_sio" was not loaded or built into kernel.
