M8S Amlogic S812 4K TV box

    Can some body provide experience of using this TV box?
    It is android TV box without DVB tuner.


    I have seen some review on Youtube,


    The specs look good 2GB RAM and 8 GB ROM and MALI 450 GPU and a 1.5 ghz quad processor, HDMI 1.4, Android 4.4.2 kitkat.


    Kodi should be running fine and most of the games as well.

    I have one. I put openelec on it because I wasn't bothered about Android. Runs very well, but at the moment I have consigned it to back bedroom because I prefer Rasp pi. BTW the remote is not particularly good. I tend to use Yatze (free app) on my tablet/or phone

    I have done loads of these boxes for friends & family and they are good little boxes, all depends on what rom you put on the box, the response is faster than a wetek, because of the 2 GB x 8 GB storage making it every bit as fast if not faster than the wetek, do watch out for clone boxes as they are prone to being bricked, if you put the right rom on you can't go wrong imho.

    M8S+ comes pre-installed with Android Lollipop, it's pretty good. Definitely a step up

    OK , so thats the difference , good man , definitely worth a look then , i am in two minds whether to get a wetek with a terrestrial tuner and a satellite tuner if that is possible or just get a better android box than the one i have already ,i have a sumvision cyclone 2 and its a good little box but prone to completely freezing to the extreme that i have to reboot the box , this happens only if i dont use it for a while and then switch over to it from my enigma 2 box so i suppose its not the end of the world to have to reboot it every so often ....thanks again for your reply though ...i see you have a nVIDIA shield , i bet that box is the business , anyway thanks again bud .

    How I update this box

    Hi gg69me, I have installed serveral of those boxes for friends and family. All M8S+ boxes because they a have 10/100/1000 ethernet connection. The M8S has only 10/100 ethernet.
    Also the WiFi is a lot faster on the M8S+ then on the M8S. Running OpenElec 6.95.1.1 with Kodi 16 on all those boxes because OpenElec runs smoother and uses less memory. The M8S+ is great vallue for money.

    Any idea when they(M8 or M9 may be..!!) will release S905 chip based receiver with DVB-S2/T2 support?
    Already others like K1-plus have done that.


    Advantage of S905 is that it supports 4k resolution with 10bit h265 decoding.
