  • Thanks so much for coming back.

I'm leaning towards the "if it aint broke dont fix it"....I've had enough after yesterday!

Anyway, brilliant thanks for sharing your wisdom and skills! Brilliant.

It may be that I have confirmed a possible bug in autotimer in your skin....if so I hope youll sort it in no time!

Sorry I cant remember exact phrase....but "missing" and "fault" seem to come to mind. I was using skyq from your recommendation , after clean install of open 7.4 found it in plugins extensions .

Actually I quite like the metrix, because I can read all text on epg and osd quite easily....but then I'm old fart, and wear thick glassses!

Thanks again.....I feel honoured that the real Kidda came back to me. Cheers.

Just read your post again....yes, I did enough faffing yesterday! But take your point, cheers.

  • Thing is, it worked last night , first run on bmx on metrix skin, and all seemed fine.

Today changed skin back to slykq, and tried to run a manual epg update....thats when crash happened and error came up on screen.

I dont klnow....guess you'll understand how these thhings can conflict....but it was only when I tried to change skin back to slykq , that error came up.

    Thanks again.

  • I did not realise it is another great work of KiddaC

I am user of Open Vix from long time and now trying to use ATV image.

I am new to this image and found only few Boot logo choices are there and if more available that will be great.

There may be a reason to have less number of Boot Logos, so I am sorry in advance.

  • Ok, so I know I'm still a newbie (and numptie) when it comes to this stuff. BUT... my zgemma h9s has now gone south, again. BMX and xstreamity etc all worked fine ....for a few weeks....but with that annoying "auto timer" error cropping up now and again. Now it is preventing box from loading up at all.... although OpenWebif does still work. So I will flash again tomorrow with Nov2 version of OpenAtv 7.4 (does 7.5 exist??) , believing that is stable and new enough.

I want to say I think KiddaC is brilliant and I am indebted more than I can say......because i would never have been able to get to this stage of being disappointed about it not working after it had worked ..without them!! If anyone, esp. KiddaC have any warnings or advice please do share.....I will be following the best guide out there...., this one! Thanks.

next time you have things up and running again make an image backup then you can just restore in a few minutes. Also you have an h9s you can have images on different partitions.

  • Urie Hi thanks very much. Thing is I'm not sure I ever had it up and running as it should be since doing recent update/flash and using bmx and xstreamity for first time. I had to go doctors today and been busy besides. I'll leave now for a while....I have alternative means of watching anyway. Thanks again. I'll do as you say...I'll perhaps have to read up about doing back ups etc. I have no idea about "partitions" ....sounds beyond me, I'll just keep it simple. Cheers.

You can have multiple backups as you progress to your completed setup.

So install your plugins, back it up

install a skin - back it up.

Install something else - back it up.

Adjust something - back it up

    ETC ETC

That way when things to crap, its 5 minutes to fix rather than starting all over again.

Jensen, thank you so much! Sounds like a great idea....as long as I can remember and access the good/correct one. Really appreciate you and others and the help. Thanks. Going to leave for a while....

once you make a backup you can go and edit backup name if needed

    example: openatv-7.4-gbquad4k-backup-20241030_1525_usb.zip to

    openatv-7.4-gbquad4k-backup-20241030_clean_usb.zip

    openatv-7.4-gbquad4k-backup-20241030_with_plugins_usb.zip

and so on so you have an idea what each one is,

that is one gripe I do have not being able to add comments when actually making a backup.

instead you have to edit backup name once it is done.

Before overwriting the previous version for testing, back up the .pyc file to .pycOLD.

After testing, delete the files with this name and rename the old .pycOLD to .pyc.

only test.. but work my personal advise.
    put to /usr/lib/python/Screens

    Captain

  • Yes I always rename files before testing to .bak

Yes that is a lot better easier to edit :) only problem now is skin problem because filename carries on to next line so message box is not displaying correctly.

that would be up to openatv for MertrixHD and perhaps KiddaC for his skins

    flashing successful.PNG

    metrixhd.PNG

  • How do you back up important files to a PC before flashing a Dreambox 900 ?

  • Before you start flashing u have options to save setting backup or backup full img from web recovery
