This is for those who have setup their new Ubuntu server & find that they cannot login as root with programs such as putty & winscp. This will remove the need for the sudo-i command and allow you to run these programs as easily as they do on Debian ect.

To enable root access type the following commands

sudo -i

sudo passwd root

And this if you want to disable root access again use this.

sudo passwd -dl root

Newer versions of ubuntu may require these commands:

sudo passwd -u root

sudo passwd root

su

service ssh restart

nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

edit line 28 from...
PermitRootLogin without-password
to
PermitRootLogin yes
Save changes and exit...Then restart SSH...

service ssh restart

Possible reason s the heat generated by the 800 clones has broke the connection much the same way that the xbox ring of death occurs.
By this i mean it gets hot enough to soften the solder causing bad connection.

My guess is that your brother in law had been inside the box and broke the connection himself, as a qualified electrical engineer i cannot think of any other reason for this. I know machine soldering in a Chinese slave labor factory can be of poor quality but not that bad. I recommend others reading this try the suggested recovery modes before diving in with a soldering iron.

Due to the lack of memory on the 500's this is not really workable.

oscam.ird is an Irdeto guessing table for OSCam, as you are using nds you have no need to edit this file. If you find an oscam binary that works for you then stick with it, no need to keep updating to the latest version, unless the update has something specific to offer your card. Everything else in your config looks good, if you need more info let us know otherwise we can close this thread..

Glad you are running fine now, i am closing this thread.

It looks like the oscam.ird file is not in your config. Extract then FTP the attached file and restart oscam to see if you get the same error.

Look at oscam webinfo readers/edit reader, do you have Force Irdeto enabled by any chance, my oscam version is also very recent but do not get this error.

Setup your smargo in dreambox mode with this utility HERE.
Connect the smargo to the Vu+.
Install the Vu+ drivers for the smargo from http://linuxsat-support.com/vu…1-6-images.html#post17993.
Restart Enigma2.
Add this to your CCcam.cfg;
SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB0 smartreader+
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/ttyUSB0 3750000

I am not sure about the second but as your card is nds not irdeto im guessing your server will be fine, is this message only at startup?
Check your other oscam configs for anything referring to it.
