A special team at B***B’s West London headquarters is working on a new set-top box concept, ‘Project Ethan’ which will make it easier for viewers to access programmes on any device, according to Britain’sSunday Telegraph newspaper.

The newspaper says that *** will give subscribers capacity in a ‘*** Cloud’ service which will allow viewers to record and pause a programme on the set-top box but then continue watching on another device including tablets and smart phones, or on Smart TVs away from the living room provided the display has an Internet connection.

advanced Television.com also understands that the new set-top box is capable of handling 4K/Ultra-HDTV transmissions, likely to commence as early as the winter of 2015-2016. Project Ethan is being supervised by B***B’s director of product development Andrew Olsen, who only joined *** in 2012 (from Comcast). Last year, Olsen took a Board seat at Canadian microchip developer ViXS which has a solution capable of processing 4K/Ultra HD signals.

B***B’s sister company *** Deutschland has already said that it expects to start test transmissions of 4K broadcasts this coming winter.

Leave a comment for Mac on the OnDemand GITHUB page, he will see that directly and if needed make the changes, far better for you to converse directly with the coder who maintains this plugin than me for such matters.

agreed, there was never any code added to stop it running on other images, but the code was always written in such a way that only the vix images could utelise it.in other images it caused crashes.it was this code that had to be rewritten in a different manor,so as not to confuse none vix images and cause them to crash.

That was never intentional but in a world where enigma2 it self has so many variations things like that were always going to happen and will always happen. no one coded is ever going to make a plugin that works with every single image under the sun, which is precisely why the code is in a public GIT environment so that people like you can adapt it and modify it for other images. I just take offence to the constant jibes insinuating we purposely made it to only work on our image.

I'm not saying you are the person who spreads such falsities but we both know the person(s) who do.

I dont wish to sound harsh here and I do fully understand that people have varying degrees of knowledge regarding their boxes and Enigma2,but how is anyone ever going to learn anything if they are always spoon fed ipk's that do everything for them ?

Enigma2 box owners should all at the very least, learn the basics such as manually installing a plugin and its dependencies.all the info and files are on this and other sites for you to read and learn to do these basic things yourself.

    Ian.

Well at least that's one thing we agree on for a change.

As i have said before the OE from which ViX is built is not the same as other images, and certainly not the same as Pli, Since ViX 3.0 we have been building and improving our own OE hence the creation of the OE-Alliance. we only work with our OE, so our plugins may not work with others.

Do you berate BH when a addition to their image does not work on others ?, no you dont so why constantly have a pop towards ViX ?. I dont want to rehash old arguments but i really do get tired of these silly rumors that ViX include code to prevent plugins from working on other images. after all the OE-Alliance it self consists of 16 member E2 dev team's and manufactures not just ViX.

There never has been any code in this plugin to prevent it working on any image, that rumor was spread like all others by a few petty minded people who slate all things ViX yet use it to gain receiver sales for their own web based shop.

As part of a server clean out the plugin feeds for no longer supported image builds have been removed, this includes all ViX 2.xx and ViX 3.0 builds, from now on only OpenViX Zeus and OpenViX Helios will have access to the official OpenViX plugin feeds.

    Guy's,

i am looking for a small number of users that can help us test Terrestrial scanning support in ABM, we need a wide area range in UK and other countries.

if you think you would like to help us out, please reply to this thread, and please only reply if you meet the following criteria

    1) Have OpenViX Helios 003 (006 when it's released) running on your STB.
    2) Have a terrestrial tuner attached to your STB (internal or USB)
    3) have or willing to install ***pe to help with debugging (only if a chat session is needed)
    4) Have the time to help debug.

anyone with terrestrial technical knowledge would greatly be appreciated, but is not necessary for the beta testing.

info i need from you when replying

    1) Manufacture and model of Box
    2) type of tuner and make and model of tuner
    3) Country and area in country

    andy.

The above is a post from Andy black, any one wishing to participate in this please contact him on the WoS forum ( I won't post a link so as not to breach and forum rules etc ), But i'm fairly sure you know how to get there.

I think the open pli developers dont really give a hoot about doing anything in the way of fixing it either...if ondemand is a must then i would suggest peeps use another image...blackhole/vix and open atv defo have no probs with the plugin.

    MK

well you pretty much just summed up the whole Pli philosophy in one post, they are more than happy to take when they want to, but when they dont want to or plain cant be bothered, they will just ignore you.

OpenViX Helios build 003 is in the process of being built but has been classified as unstable due to a Enigma2 bootloop as the result of a error in the InfoBarGenerics file.

Due to this bootloop we have classified this as a URGENT bug and advise that you not update for the time being, we will notify you further when it is ok to update, very likely later today.
