So has this taken everyone by surprise?

Not in the least, this has been on the cards since the day the killed off the ability to use a card in any thing but the original box in Australia ( well over a year ago ). Commercially it's always going to make seance to hit the smaller markets first just incase the new measures knock off official boxes too, that way they can iron out the problems before taking it to a bigger market.

even with a bootloop you can still FTP into the receiver, in these cases it's best to retrieve a crash log from the receiver and forward it on to the image team so they can try and find out why it crashed and where possible fix any bugs found.

A Warez group has been exposed for collecting information on pirates who downloaded cracked software they released.

The group, "MeGaHeRTZ", has allegedly been including malicious elements in its cracks for popular software, including SmartFTP, DVDFab, FlashFXP, Incredimail, Traktor and BurnAware Professional.
Somebody noticed unusual firewall activity with a cracked version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro and investigated further, finding that the software had been e-mailing information back to a number of addresses, all of which have account names containing some variation of the MeGaHeRTZ group name.

The information it sent back included the username, computer/drive serial from the Windows API, and the host machines's IP address.

All software they released has since been "nuked", but its all out there now.

Cracked software containing malware is nothing new, but its very rare that the malware is added by the originating group. Typically the malware is added later and spread on P2P networks, file sharing forums or BitTorrent trackers.

I already told you what to try via your other thread else where, so once again.

Try this ( no promises it will work though ).

    - Via telnet kill enigma with the init 4 command
    - open a FTP session and navigate to /etc/enigma2/
    - delete the lame.db file
    - via telnet issue the init 3 command to reboot enigma

Run ABM again and see if it pulls it in this time.

Remember that the Prismcube is a extremely low spec generation 1 device so dont expect Duo2 performance and dont expect a mature operating system like your used to with Enigma2 as it's still very early days with this platform.

No need to flash the original image as each reflash first erases the flash area on the receiver, so every new flash is a clean reflash. Also no need to flash the bootloader, if your already using any image produced in the last year you will already have the latest bootloader otherwise the receiver would not boot up, Bootloaders are akin to the bios on a pc, flashing this needlessly just puts the receiver at risk of serious and permanent damage if something goes wrong during the process.

The best thing you can do is create debug logs and if possible rs232 serial logs of the IMG manager while it's creating the backup, then post these for the ViX team to look through, This is exactly what i did for the Nano which had a similar issue. you could also try updating to buid 755 and see if that resolves your issue.

That wasn't meant as a dig in any way pheonix so hope it did not come across that way, yes of course i will be trying it but i keep BH in flash simply because using meoboot allows me to check anything quickly before answering questions from members here on different images.

no mate i know, just saying that the screen shots are quite deceptively simplistic.
