yeah they dont really show much but my point was that CrossEPG no longer has to switch to a radio channel to download it's database it does it via a free tuner, the same is now true of the defragment database option within CrossEPG too.

Andy has put a lot of work into this and some things may need more tweaking but overall it's ready to go. you can give it a try for your self a build 755 should be live via the online update option

    Just a heads up guys.

Andyblac has once again twiddled those magic fingers and has commenced a major recode of the CrossEPG plugin, from build 755 CrossEPG will use a free tuner same as ABM does to gather its data. work is still ongoing but this should give you a quick idea of how things are coming.

Once again i would like to give my personal thanks to Andyblac of the ViX image team / OE-Alliance for his continual strive to improve Enigma2 for ALL users of all images alike.

Here are a few screenshots of the new CrossEPG in action in build 755.

On a Solo2 a online update should take no more than 5 minutes depending on how many updates need to be done, I just updated my own from build 772 to 774 in under 2 minutes from start to finish.

also as pointed out above due to major changes we recommend that you reflash to a minimum of build 760, once your on any build from 760 or above you can again use the online update feature.

This may be the final nail in the coffin of plasma display televisions.
Following Pioneer exiting the market earlier this year, Panasonic had confirmed today that they will be exiting the plasma TV market, ending production in December and all related operations by March of next year.

Two of Panasonic's three factories have already ceased production of new plasma displays, and the third will conclude by the end of next month. Last April, the company ceased all research and development on future plasma tech.

Panasonic says that "rapid, drastic changes in the business environment" (including price pressure from cheaper LCD TVs) forced their hand and the end of the plasma.

The company will move future R&D to OLED as Panasonic sees the tech as "one of the key future products" for the industry.

The latest measures to combat digital piracy in the UK has come into force with a court order from BPI asking ISPs to block 21 sites that link to infringing material.

“We asked the sites to stop infringing copyright but unfortunately they did not and we were left with little choice but to apply to the court, where the judge considered the evidence and declared that ISPs should not serve access to them,” said BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor.
Blocking sites via ISPs is considered by the BPI and other copyright holders to be a more effective method of combatting piracy than targeting individuals via warnings and data throttling – the tactics favoured by the Digital Economy Act 2010.
The full list of blocked sites is:

The popular warez site UploaderTalk is sending shockwaves across the industry as it has been purchased by the anti-piracy company Nuke Piracy.
The site collected data on users, file hosters and other websites for a full year before being sold, being a piracy 'honeypot' that has users terrified. The term honeypot refers to a facility that runs, encourages criminal behavior, and then collects incriminating data under false pretenses.

As an added bonus to rub it in, the operator of UT, who goes by the moniker WDF posted this on the homepage: "That's right – the biggest swerve ever. I, WDF, work for the anti-piracy people! UT was set up for a number of reasons. But mostly to be a sounding board, proof of concept ... and to collect data. I collected info on file hosts, web hosts, websites. I suckered ****loads of you."

WDF was formerly a senior member of the filesharing site WJunction, and UT was designed to attract pirates that upload for profit, using file hosting affiliate programs.

Nuke Piracy, based in the U.S., states on their "About Us" page that they use "proprietary and unconventional methods we do not discuss or disclose our methodologies, processes, and procedures publicly."

by full reflash i mean reflash a clean image by USB then set every thing up fresh including using different passwords to what you have previously, as for the router a full power down ( unplugged ) for 5 minutes should be enough to purge that ( in most cases ).

Also dont just go blindly opening ports on the router without first knowing what your doing as thats another way for this virus / a hacker to gain access.

sorry just noticed your reply. if you dont see the wget file then it may be the case that it is infected by the virus as i pointed put earlier, the only way to resolve this is a full fresh flash with nothing restored, then you must change any and all login details and passwords. you will also need to reset / reflash your router as the virus can take up residence there too.

If you think that's a complaint fair enough. I was asking for help on a vix problem i had. Vix is great.

if you dont want to see the update icon just turn off the updates notification feature and park the image on it's current build.

Menu> setup> system> software update background check = no. you can also set the allow unstable ( untested ) updates option to no but that will also mean you can not use the image plugin feeds when the image is set to unstable status.

    Eh hello!? Who's complaining?

well what do you call this then ?.

as i said maybe ViX is not for you so try another image and see if it's more to your liking. There is more out there than just ViX and you may just be happy with something else.

we cant win in this respect.

previously we only offered updates to our images when we were good and ready and fully satisfied every single aspect of the image had been tested thoroughly, this often meant that there were maybe three image updates per year, and we got it in the neck from our users who complained that they wanted updates now tested or not. now we push our updates on a almost daily basis and for this we still get complaints !.

please remember that you are getting all of this for free as every thing we do we do out of our own time and expense, if thats not good enough for you maybe your using the wrong image for your needs ?.

for those who didn't read it the first time around.

    ==========

    Important Announcement.

'From build 760 onwards the video-mode selection has been completely overhauled. It is no longer merely a plugin, but has been embedded as an integral part of the image.

It is now necessary to reflash your receiver, a online update will cause issues. Before flashing you can use the BackupManager to make a settings- and plugin backup. If done, you can flash in the usual way and during the First Install Wizard you can use the restore function to restore your backup. This way your box will be up & running in a couple of minutes.

Once the image is up and running, you should go to Menu> Setup> AV-settings, and make the settings in accordance with your setup.'
