Hi all, I have today changed from latest vix to latest black hole as ever since i installed tsmedia on vix i could never record any programs properly after that plugin was installed!!Vix say that i would have had to reinstall vix again as they dont support tsmedia and it corrupts there image! So i thaught i would try new image BH LATEST.

Problem i have now is that 1chanell wont play movies on BH but i think its because my internal hard drive needs set up again? am i correct??? any ideas what to do now?

    Thanks!:

sadly my friend you have the wrong end of the stick, infact you have the wrong stick all together.

It was said and i Quote "TSpanel overwrites system files during it's install which is known to cause issues with the image. ( i'm not getting into that argument again so just dont go there ), you can use TSpanel if you wish but if you encounter any issues as a result we can not offer you help as it's a closed source plugin.

TSmedia on the other hand works perfectly with ViX and always has, that said V 4.0 and v4.1 had a small issue when trying to install from the feeds or manually where it would give a error about dependencies

This has since been fixed by rob van der does and will be included in the feeds from build 751, there is also a fixed version on the forum but i cant upload it due to bandwidth issues.

All true Enigma 2 boxes should allow this without any issues although the solo and Duo are both a little long in the tooth now adays so maybe look at something else a little more powerful. as for the alien thats not a true E2 box in any definition of the word.

I was only repeating what i had read elsewhere, if that was wrong i apologise.

It was likely one of my posts that your referring to.

yes the logs manager has a problem but this is known about and does not affect any other part of the image other than it currently cant send the logs to our server via the internet, if you have a issue with the timer causing a BSoD your going to have to retrieve the corresponding logs from the receiver and get them to us manually either by mailing them to

    vixlogs at world_of_satellite.com

or by posting them on the ViX home forum for andy to see.

how well does WINE work under ubuntu
im gonna make the move over to ubuntu but there are still some apps that will run on win only. :(

last time i tried it a few years ago it was ok but a wee bit sluggish at times, may have changed for the better, this is the exact same reason i have not moved to ubuntu full time yet, defo not going to that windows 8 ****e.

What exactly are you trying to achieve ?

if you'r refering to images then no you cant install a image to a Vu+ receiver via Ubuntu or any PC / MAC. you can however if using ViX ( Build 750 onwards ) FTP a zipped image to your receiver and using the Image manager install that with the click of two maybe three buttons.

just reflashed it and its working will do what you say and start from scratch!
were do activate logs / debug logs?

if your using ATV then it should be similar to ViX as ATV is part of the OE-Allinance. look in menu> setup> system> logs> settings. choose any where but the HDD as debug logs will prevent the HDD from sleeping.

Could be any number of reasons, such as a incompatible plugin, or a problem with the image it self.

p.s you did not list the image your using unless it's ATV as indicated by the details on the left ??.

Best thing to do reflash the receiver and setup from scratch, then activate logs / debug logs etc in case this happens again.

3D is the dog that didn’t bark. Bringing pictures ‘to life’ was to bring (another) renaissance to movie theatres and provide another whole new replacement market for big screen TVs.

Avatar, James Anderson’s 2009 blockbuster about persecuted blue humanoid alien forest dwellers, was to be the start of something big and game changing. It turned out to be both the beginning, and the beginning of the end. Those who thought (still think?), 3D has much technical and artistic merit, may now wish things had started with less of a bang. That bang – caused by the record breaking takings of Avatar – was the start gun for a band wagon so big, but so craven and so ugly, it could only be a matter of time, a short time, before the wheels came off.

A slew of deeply unimpressive schlock movies appeared one after another where the main, the only, point was to have stuff come out of the screen. What came out was garbage. Some fairly decent movies even suffered the ignominy of being retrofit with 3D. Movie-goers and self respecting directors began to vote with their feet. Unfortunately, several TV makers and TV channels got on board even as the shine was fading. They have all backed out and are now blowing on their singed fingers.

Of course, TV makers are still trying (I wonder how hard, really?) to perfect glasses-less 3D, as though that’s the whole answer. For sure, no glasses would be better, they are a real inconvenience particularly in the home, but would it turn 3D back into an instant and sustainable success? I don’t think so. Sport never got the hang of it in terms of production; too much shot from the same perspective as 2D, which added little, or weird angles found to justify 3D but that didn’t add to the coverage. A handful of immersive experiences from skilfully made movies or TV dramas don’t justify a home’s investment in a set, never mind a whole industry’s realignment.

A lot of people found sustained watching gave them a headache – hardly surprising as it works by tricking the brain into having to constantly re-assemble an unnaturally broken image. The whole exercise was like a night club trying to sell you a hangover without the night out first.

So, goodbye for the foreseeable to 3D, and hello 4K. I’ve seen and it, and it is pretty spectacular on a 50″ screen in ideal conditions. Like current HD, though, much depends on how much bandwidth is handed to it by the broadcaster. Overselling and under delivering are part of what did for 3D, 4K should be wary of going the same way.

    Quick update on this.

Andyblac has now coded it so that you can once again use FAT formatted devices to live flash compressed ( zipped ) images from within the Image manager. The new Image manager will not be included from ViX build 750 onwards.

    Big thanks Andy.

Changes coming to the Image manager in ViX from build 749 upwards (all supported receivers):

From build 749 onwards we have recoded the way the Image manager works ( Blue button> ViX> Image manager ).
The ImageManager can now handle both zipped and unzipped images (downloaded from the ViX server or you can add any other image yourself). The ImageManager can flash (or restore) images directly from compressed (zip) archives.

Please note however that in order to use the ImageManager for live-flashing the device from which you save and restore your images must be formatted to EXT 3/4 (this can be done by the box it self).

A warning will pop up if you try to flash from the ImageManager via a FAT formatted device.

Big thanks once again to Andyblac for bringing this feature to the ViX image.
