Just to clear this up a little.

This not only applies to ViX but to Pli and all OE-A based images as well.

The default location is still /etc/tuxbox like all other enigma2 receivers
the custom user location is /etc/enigma2/ as i will detail below.

Basically you can still use the default location for the satellites.xml file from /etc/tuxbox and it will work just fine you dont even need to update the file your self as we ( ViX ) update this upon every image update our selves from our own server. if however you do decide to include your own custom satellites.xml file tailored specifically to your needs and you dont want it to be overwritten on a image update, simply place it in /etc/enigma2/ and restart enigma.

The system will then treat this as the new default file and it wont be overwritten on a image update, you can at any time remove this file then reboot enigma and it will return to using the original file from the /etc/tuxbox if you wish.

This system allows you to use custom files without deleting or tampering with important system files and it is the same for many files such as skin files etc.

if you are using the ViX image and would like to make sure you have the latest version of the plugin you can use the following command via a telnet session.

    Quote

    opkg install enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-autobouquetsmaker

you can also download the plugin directly from the ViX GIT via the same telnet session with the following command.

    Quote

    opkg download enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-autobouquetsmaker

This will grab the .ipk from the feeds and save it to /home/root on your receiver.

    The current version is v1.1

Itv player plugin first alfa release...
A plugin that streams content from UK ITV Player. You will need UK ip address to use it...

This is first preview(alpha) release. It can kill your puppy, or cause a nuclear holocaust.

You and only you are responsible for how you use it, and/or damages it can make to your STB.

    Thanx to:
    Ev0 - graphic (background, icon)
sonic1 - packaging to .tgz for BH/BP users

All that tested it before this release, not mentioned but not forgotten...

    NB..
Extract ITVPlayer_py2.x_ alpha and send dir itv_preview to

    /usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/Extensions

try enabling debug logs and set them to save to a USB stick, then if the same happens again you can send those logs directly to us ( The ViX team ) so we can try to see whats going wrong for you.

also where are you saving the backups to ? and what exact build are you on ??. what exact plugins are you installing ? as maybe something your installing is reacting negatively to something in the backup. basically the more details you can provide the better we will be able to help you.

Last but not least rather than trying to use a backup have you tried to flash the box and set it up your self to rule out any conflicts as i said above ?

I'm sorry pal but that guy is feeding you crap, his explanation is pure fantasy.

Try a more upto date, newer image.

ViX 2.3 is now obsolete in fact we deleted the GIT for this image a long time ago so you wont be able to update the image any longer the feeds will go the same way in due course.

images can be downloaded directly from the openvix server
    or via a online update

    menu> setup> software update.

or via a telnet session with the following command

    init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade && init 6

ALL COMPATIBLE SOFTCAMS are now hosted directly on the OPENVIX Download center along with the images.

Please note, if you are currently on a image prior to build 519 you must perform a full reflash rather than a online update, you can use a settings backup however and once setup again you can continue to use the online updates feature within the image.

Thanks to the magic fingers of the one and only AndyBlac, we have a little gift for you to enjoy.

From build 546 upwards Mediascanner has been fixed to recognize media files via hot-plugged USB sticks and other devices as can be seen via the links below.

Please give this a go when the update is pushed and let us know how it works for you.

    Many Thanks The ViX team.

IPK auto install from USB support added.

Just though i'd point out that andy has now added support for auto installing of .IPK files directly from a USB stick into the image. Simply place the .IPK file onto a USB stick then plug it into any of the USB ports and away you go.

please let us know how you find this and if it's working ( or not ) for you.

Thanks once again for your continued support

    The ViX team.

well today i updated fpga again.

I really would not get into the habit of performing a unnecessary FPGA upgrade to often, this is akin to a bios update and if something goes wrong it can and will cause irreversible damage to the receiver.

FPGA updates as with bootloaders are best left alone unless a update is issued by Vu, plus there a one time thing so no need to flash them over and over.

There is currently no way that i know of to check the FPGA version loaded to the receiver, although i'm not 100 percent sure if a bootlog would but i highly doubt so. as for the folder to select, just navigate to the directory where you have the FPGA file saved to for example i always place mine on a Mounted USB stick and update it from there.

Why are you trying a FPGA upgrade to remedy a Telnet problem ?,

The FPGA has nothing what so ever to do with that, the FPGA is a firmware update for the chip on the mainboard that controls the Tuner card. also note that the FPGA has not had a update released in many months, so if you have already performed this update in the past there is no need to do it again.

as with bootloader updates the FPGA is best left alone unless there is a update issued, because if something goes wrong it can and will cause physical and irreversible damage to the receiver.
