i believe you have an LNB switching problem ! its very common for LNB to not switch to LOW band !

1 > try your box on another dish if possible ! ( if it works on another dish you can be sure its LNB)
2 > try switching to other LOW band channels from high band to see if the same occurs
3 > if you have motorised try tuning to a similar Transponder on another satellite

These steps can prove my theory correct if the issue persists !
LNB is very cheap now so not a big problem !
Worst case is faulty tuner in BOX.

    Rik

After i have got the dish installed how will i be able to get all the foreign channels on to the box?
    Thanks

Download or Create an up to DATE channel list ¬ after of course you have positioned and aligned your motor and dish ect !

    Buy a subscription card?

Of course some channels will require a subscription to watch them BUT many are FTA (free to air)

    Have fun

I'm quite new to this and I have simply installed some plugin packs and now have lots of plugins, but only experiment (try to learn) with OSCAM. Will there be any harm done if I just delete the files with "cam" and "mcas" from /var/bin to test the suggestion from the other forum?

    Thanks in advance.

i cant really answer accurately mate cos i dont know enough about code or what those files do in your machine !
But i would alter there name rather than delete them ¬ try renaming incase it crashes the box or summit - then you still have them !
Use old.cam - and old.mcas for example ¬ try it and see _
Nice if it works - you can pat yourself on the back.

check other channels on the same Transponder to deduce if its a SIGNAL related issue -
If they too take a long time to clear it could be a faulty LNB not switching bands or polarity ?

    Try another channel list ?

Another thing to do is check your CCcam web interface under clients to see the status of the ecm - If its not OK then it could be a CCcam issue.
Then you will need to compile and look at logs with the Debug option in CCcam ?

I am no expert as such but these steps should get you on the right path -
    have a read ¬

    Hello!

I have a problem regarding the conditional access setting though (enable/disable the CA modules). I have my cable providers card in slot 1 and when I enable it, everything works alright. But every time i turn the receiver off the setting resets itself to "disabled"

    Regards!

i do not use amiko box mate but in vix image on my duo there is a "Enable Cam on Start up" option in the softcam manager section !

    just a thought.

    Rik

He then asked me to log into the box and email him the CCcam file or line inside. As a complete novice I have no idea what they are or how I log in etc.

If you have no idea of how to put a C: Line into your machine its time to start reading ¬
By the sounds of it you have been ripped off by someone offering a "cheap" subscription or "gift" - This is illegal and is the downfall of our beloved hobby !
Take your time to read through the forum and think about buying yourself a subscription like 5etanta Ireland which you can share - Then if your lucky someone might share a card you desire in return - such as UK based provider !

For now your on thin ice here -
Do not ask for further assistance regarding the matter you have described please ! Until you have a Legal subscription at least.

    :rikjaard2:

5ky have dedicated uplinks from every ground !
The pictures you are talking about are what the pundits watch on sly sports news during saturday afternoon i think.
Chances are there relayed back to wherever that studio is via slys HQ and editing suite - that might be isleworth in London mate.
Even if you found the feed source i would imagine its encrypted - Although there have been occasions people found them running FTA.
Someone even suggested to me that there is Fibre back up should summit go wrong when a match is LIVE ! and if thats the case its a closed shop i'm afraid !
IpTv is growing daily with feeds available from all over the world - If satellite cant deliver your needs look at those options.

i would stick with the originals mate ¬
    just my opinion -
which in part comes from the idea of Entusiast wants Quality,Ability,Support NOT "cheap" or "cheaper"

    :rikjaard1:

I keep loosing Eurosport 2 (Astra 19.2; 10920/H/22000/”7/8” German origin but included in the Dutch package).

When you say losing it be more specific please Lateron -
Do you have NO SIGNAL or SCRAMBLED CHANNEL message for example -

You need to post up CCcam.cfg log files -
    1st must be running
    DEBUG: in cfg -

However you already overlooked the rules - http://linuxsat-support.com/misc.php?do=vsarules[RULES]
    Namely Rule < 1 >

    :rikjaard2:

    PART 1

attach a pole to something ¬ anything ! i have seen them on everything from ships and oil rigs to caravans -
THE IMPORTANT BIT is making sure its plumb as Nano stated earlier you wont EVER get it right ! These things are finite to a degree (or two{2}) ! By PLUMB i mean absolutely vertical measured @ 90 degree increments with a level !

    PART 2

Set your motors elevation angle to that relevant to your location - LONDON is 51.5 degrees _(from memory - check your location on google maps or dish pointer)

Assemble your dish and attach it to the motor as per the Instructions _
Ensure you have it all centred correctly -
The nuts holding the dish to the motor - make sure these nuts are tight cos they wont need touching again !

    PART3

Attach motor with dish to the Previously (part1) installed pole - which you can be sure is Plumb in builder speak !
This can be difficult if its above your head - Always be safe as possible ¬
Now hand tight the bolts/nuts holding the motor to the pole -
You should ideally now be able to move the dish and motor as one Left and Right on the pole.

This is when you align to BBC WORLD NEWS on THOR 0.8-1 West

This will involve moving the dish up down ( ON ITS OWN just the dish )
    AND the
DISH AND MOTOR left & right -

Once you have this satellite aligned with a meter OR using your box tuned to bbc world news
you start to tighten the nuts/bolts carefully BUT NOT fully tight yet !

    WHY -
Because now is the time to check the arc -

PART4 (excitment can set in BE warned)

    With all your cables connected { of course ¬ }
Input your u.s.u.a.l.s details in tuner configuration -
SAVE THEM and select various to satellites along the chosen arc -
[ BE CAREFUL _ DO NOT GO TO FAR EAST OR WEST _]

choose one position at a time because you do NOT want to drive the dish into your wall or roof
You can visually check the clearance you have after each move to begin with !

An up to date channel list will assist with this enormously !

If your very lucky you got it right first time - WOW - what was all the fuss -
You can select satellites at a push of a button !
(Carefully tighten up the nuts/bolts on the dish elevation And the nuts/bolts holding the motor to the pole -)

If you didn't and i doubt you will first attempt !
Drive back to zero and re - align as set out in PART 3
take note that a FULL TURN of a nut or bolt is enough movement to throw the whole thing OUT _
YES 1 nut or bolt turned more than 180 degrees can be the difference between spot on and ok through to nothing at all !

So be gentle and tighten everything in an ordered fashion very carefully -
You will notice on the signal quality indicator how much one turn of a bolt affects it !
Be patient and Have fun - once its set up you can tweak until its perfect anyhow !
as a rule some satellites are stronger than others - Hotbird was always easy to get as is 19 east astra 1 ¬ then Astra 2
Remember dish size plays a big role as to what you can receive too -
Be sure your not trying to get what's impossible ! check the relevant info thats out there on kingofsat and lyngsat -

The bigger the dish the harder they get to set up -

Another way i have set up motorised
with latitude on motor mount set as per motor instructions
Is to drive the dish to say 28east by usuals with it all attached to the pole but only hand tight !
Then align it to that satellite -
So move dish and motor left and right
move just dish up and down -

find that satellite you drove to with U.S.U.A.L.S - i chose 28east ! then check arc -

What ever way you do it will take patients and a few times unless your doing it daily !

Good Luck And PLAY safe !

Get yourself a "Local" card ! Subscription based or one off payment ! \then you can become part of a "syndicate" so to speak and add your card to a pool of other cards that fellow enthusiasts have chosen to share ! It is said a good group of no more than 15 peers can cover most of what's available via sat ¬ mind the pun !
NOBODY SHOUTED DID THEY ¬ :rikjaard1:

be sure to do the right thing and get localised - asap _
