Hi, I have a Technomate motor, with the "Limit Sliders" fully back, the dish reaches 75 degrees east & west.

Can the stops be removed altogether?

I understand that removing them will mean opening the motor, and removal of what ever the small bolts screw into (I understand the loss of warranty).

Will it get to 80 degrees without the rack coming off the pinion?

A copy of junk will be junk.

I have had three, the two genuine boxes had low voltage (10v & 11v) to the LNB which made using a motor a pain.

The copy kicks out 13.5volts which is much better.

One wouldn't receive certain channels no matter what I did to tune them in; the other received them well. Makes me wonder what I'm missing, what's there that I can't see.

    They are entry level.

http://www.eopenbox.co.uk is a good place to view the difference between copys.

As far as I remember from months ago it was 13.4 when it should be 18.
Pretty sure it never got over 13.4 horizontal or vertical.

Damn it I'm going to have to make sure and test it again. lol
I'll test the psu while I'm at it.
    Thanks

Hi, I was wrong, the voltage is ok it's the Transponder that keeps changing to what the open box wants (vertical) and not to any setting that I choose.
Would this be down to the LNB being junk or is it the Openbox?

OK, there's something wrong with this forum, I keep trying to post but it edits what I have written previously.

Hi, just thought Id let you know, I'v been looking at the Dark monster again, out of desperation.
I know it's utter junk, but at lest it was quiet.
The Tech no mate TM2600, works well but it's so noisy it's un usable, and I haven't used it since installing it months ago (sounds like an electric drill).

Anyway, I took the top off the Dark Monster, and noticed that the bearing in the lid is being pinched when it's bolted down. I'm thinking of milling the bearing seat in the lid down to give the motor an easier time of it.

If your using a Darkmotor at the moment and having problems turning the dish, can you do me a favour and just loosen your lid (3 bolts), and see if it improves things.

I would buy another make but finding one that works and is quiet seems to be a problem. And as this is the third motor it's getting a little expensive.

    Thanks for your help.

The tm2600 turns and tunes in, so success.
And to think I was just about to put that damn Dark motor back on, :)

One thing I did notice about the dark motor, when I re fitted the top to the body the bearings pinched badly.
If I were to use the dark monster again (which I'm not) I'd re seat the top bearing race so it sits about 2mm higher up.

My thanks to all that helped, it's been an education.

Yes I have bought that one as well, totally useless.
It sits at the top of the pole unused.
Tune it in to one satellite, reception good, then turn the dish to another satellite and it stops short or just passes it.
The dark motor was better at finding satellites when / if it moved.

    I have given up.

All sorted now, it helps when we let the receiver know our Latitude and Longitude. :) Of course I blame the manual. Lol.

    Lol, now sorted.
I think it was stating OVO because I didn't re scan for channels after wiping the programs off.
Now I have scanned for channels the signal strength bar shows up.

I think the main problem was that the lat and long was set to zero & zero, now I have re set it to my location every thing's springing in to life after a re scan.

Happy days, but blimey what a pa-lava. Cheers.

Since I took down the dark motor and swapped it for a Technomate, I can receive only one satellite, Sky.

I have now noticed that the Transponder settings are set to OVO what ever that is, for the satellites that I can not receive.

When I change the transponder settings the Openbox get's a good signal strength for the missing satellites, but how do I save the settings? I click on OK and Exit, but it always goes back to the old OVO settings.

There's nothing in the manual for this problem.

This may sound like a daft question but, where does the dish bracket go on the motors arm?

Right at the bottom, half way or top?
I have fixed it as per the picture in the manual (just above the first hole).

The problem I have is when I tune it to Thor, it works well but tune back to sky it looses half the sky channels.
I have the dish and motor bracket angles set bang on, so the positioning on the arm is the only thing I can think of that might cause this problem.

    Sorry to be a pain.
