XBMC was phased out with the implementation of KODI over a year ago..
what you are using on an Enigma2 image is KODIDIREKT plugin which is a modded version.
I have updated icefilms to most recent version.
I´ve tested icefilms on e2 and it acts identical as to what you describe.
So I am testing in KODI on pc;
Icefilms has a new metadata file ( 7mbs+-) to install.
I´ve just tested several of the HD 720 servers within icefilms.
MOst of the servers (hugefiles,etc) require the user to type in an anticaptcha quote to connect then fails to open..
However there are other servers which will open automatically but as I say this is on KODI pc.
I have tested on an android box ( marsbox HD se) and films open as expected..
so to conclude: XBMC doesn´t exist, KODI does stream but icefilms doesn´t stream on a DUO2 but does on pc and android...
have tried answer both queries in threads...
But I wouldn´t give up just yet...
try a backup image and revise your home network settings,,sounds like some kind of "blocker" is stopping communication.....
try DREAMBOX player instead, although not sure if there´s a HD version..
I use this on IPAD:vu+ player and dreambox live on ipad

In your browser settings you have such an option to block pop ups or try using adblock plus
Although this will sometimes deny you access to certain sites,,,,,but can easily be turned on/off..

you dont mention which box /image version etc you are using ...
check the cable connections from lnb to box, also the sat.xml file .
If it´s an E2 box then try a channel settings list for example catseye

You need to decompress the file to obtain the vuplus folder inside.

OPen ,then decide if you want to watch tv streaming or movie/film/series..
choose a server then check the lists or search for a particular film/series..
If you are within GB maybe you need to adjust /unblock : Easy Guide to Unblock 1channel in Current TSmedia for Blocked Countries
NOt sure of vix image but on BH you have OPERA WEB browser plugin to be able to add/open/save urls ,etc...
BUt unless you are chasing after a particular url, I would suggest you add TS MEDIA plugin which has too many options to mention here..

All RTE is within sky encryption bud..
RTE2 HD opens but not RTE1 HD nor TV3 Ireland HD on astra 28.2º..

You can install from zip like any other repo,, but: if it isn´t Enigma2 compatible
then make sure you have a full backup of your image in case things go haywire
