theres plenty information giving the answers to your question they may say diff O/S ie ubuntu or debian ect ect
but gives you that operating system install parameters for all your questions ;) doable on same O/S as you are ?
never used your O/S but one would assume its do-able as it is on every O/S most use debian or Ubuntu , depending on your system Kodibuntu may also be option ;)

I don't have any experience with this, but it looks like you need to use his kodinstall first... https://github.com/tnds82/kodinstall
Some linux distributions disable remote root login by default. You need to login as a normal user, then su to root.
You can check if this is true by looking at /etc/ssh/sshd_config and look for this line:
(Also, if root has no password, you will need to create one before you can login as root.)
yeah i was trying to log in a user to make root pass , aswell encase of auto disable, dont know if it was that or not tbh never knew the location to check in so
thanx for info i'll be trying again to get this to work ive now grabbed a few kodibunto versions to play with openelec is ok and works easily enough but is very limited
on what we can install to it i think well for laptops/pc devices anyway in my eyes i did hear there was away to run a shell thugh on openelec and be able to run more comands like auto chans 28.2 scrips for tvheadend but not got round to that yet in ive not seen a massive differance in performance between openelec or kodibuntu either really there both about the same just obv kodibuntu has more flexibility in linux terms anyway :).many thanx for the info i knew it would be simple what i was missing :) ill report back my findings when i attempt this again :)

try xlmlimporter ;) it will be in plugins install that , config it and see if it fairs better ;)

update i eventually installed unbuntu desktop/kodi/oscam/omnikey 3121
this did same thing as i was looking to above i will stil have to auto start kodi on boot but ill figure that out l8r after retroarch :)
if anyone knows about the orgininal post i made i would still be intrested to know how to install that kodiserver addon/scriptit was weird though not been able to access root via putty when it was kodibuntu though , may have very possible been badinstall but
who knows till next tymm i try lolz -

whats the difference between the 4 ?
Dont hold me to it but one would assume the following
pcscd = prob got only omnikey, smargo support
light = most probs just a light no many options avail in build oscam reader via dyndns only poss
latest = more standard use oscam more options availible within build
emu latest = with powerVU support biss keys ect ectcould be wrong though :)

Out of curiosity what version of oscam is everyone running? I've been trying to setup a new Wetek with Pbnigma 5.1 all weekend and line is showing as connected but won't clear. Tried about 5 different versions although most likely my setup as I'm new to oscam.
ensure want emu is ticked in reader section also you have a DvbApi user included in the oscam.conf
