I don't remember that. I was always cable. Only had sat for a few years (and in the 90s when you could get one of those cards that unlocked everything). What was happening?

I have no idea. I don't think anyone knows how. Maybe there are people selling the service for a very high price, for IPTV providers etc.

I think the only reason the Sky DE k1 is accessible is because of a hardware exploit (CAM module?).

I think without some kind of hardware exploit you would need to brute force it.

Pretty sure the K1 is the pairing key and it's unique to each box/card

EDIT: I think so many people ask about Sky IT because it was rumoured to be coming "soon" before Christmas. Now Sky UK SD has come out of nowhere and I think people are wondering what happened to the Sky IT rumours. It wasn't just some dickhead on a forum saying it was coming, it was on pay server websites.

Something to bear in mind is you will want a box that can do gigabit ethernet to support multiple high bandwidth streams.

I have been considering moving from a PC TV server to an E2 box. I have similar requirements and I was recommended the OCTAGON SF8008 S2X TWIN 4K UHD 2x DVB-S2X.

I am not sure. I prefer docker containers over native installs because it keeps everything (dependencies etc) isolated to that app/container.

I think there are also ways to run Android apps... So you could use STB-EMU etc
